I believe that the Saddle Arabians are horses. They're almost as tall as Celestia. I also think, like donkeys and mules, that they don't have magic because they don't have cutie marks. Out of the equine races, Alicorns, Unicorns, Pegasi, Earth Ponies, and Zebras have cutie marks while Horses, Donkeys, and Mules lack them. It has always been thought that all ponies have a type of magic, but "Twilight's Kingdom" confirmed it. Tirek at first only stole Unicorn magic because it was the most apparent and manifested form of magic of the three tribes, but later was able to steal flight and strength from Pegasi and Earth Ponies. Even though Pegasi still had physical wings, they couldn't fly and the Earth Ponies lost their strength. Tirek physical didn't alter or harm them in anyway, meaning that Pegasi can't fly naturally with their wings. This makes sense because their wings are far too small to sustain flight. The ponies also lost their cutie mark when they lost their magic, indicating that there is a connection between the two. This makes sense, because cutie marks appear with a flash when a young pony discovers their innate talent. Zecora is a zebra and she appears to have a cutie mark and can do magic, reinforcing the connection between the two.
