anyway, the straight hair thing didn't exist under "Cutie Mark Chronicles" and "Party of One", but Cupcakes came out before then.Β (Hence why there's a mention of Gilda, Peppermint Twist, Diamond Tiara, the mention of Pinkie and Dash playing pranks, but not anything about say, Pinkie's anti-war Apploosa song or Pinkie's full name-aka Pinkamena Diane Pie.)
The Pinkamena thing only came up after the Party of One (sad, straight haired filly Pinkie was just....a sad, straight haired filly), and people made a connection to Cupcakes.
Basically the old story is Pinkie is killing because she's a creepy psychopath.Β The new story (after the fic was written) was that Party of One didn't go so well and Pinkie withdrew into isolation and kills ponies out of revenge and bitterness.
The former is far scarier.Β The latter just needs a hug.
