If she actually CAN be perfect, why wouldn't she be?

Being perfect is both tiring and a bit of an illusion. While you(the one trying to be perfect) may be perfect in the majority of people's eyes, there will be people who can see through it or will envy the perfection to not see you as perfect but an obstacle to be knocked down, cheered at when mistakes happen (such as failing to protect her subjects from the evil queen.) Still, Celestia sacrificed and pushed herself hard towards a singular goal and was rewarded beyond what even she could envision. She got her peace and prosperity while also getting friends and allies who she could let her guard down around, lean on for support, ponies like Twilight and others. Thus, she could let herself become more true to her heart, a heart that she shielded for the sake of perfection, yet she stayed true to herself. That takes a strong kind of pony to do tough tasks, face challenges that would break others. So if she can let herself be rewarded with her heart's desire with no bad things happening (tho there probably will be some changes that will make things uncomfortable... just all part of the package in being "perfect") then I say let her find the joy where she can, while she can.

To err is human, and presumably also pony, but since striving for perfection isn't easy, it makes it all the more impressive that she can apparently make herself flawless. How is it an illusion if that's the way you are and the life you want to live? It's like saying that a person who is married for a long time and has a perfect record of fidelity to their spouse must be yearning to have an affair. Going through with that would also be following a heart's desire, but that doesn't make it right. As for the envy of others, why should she lower herself just because she has some good trait that they lack? If you envy me, that's your problem, not mine.

So...after all the trials, hardships, and pressure of living 1000 years in constant deity she can finally be herself.
I can hardly imagine the amount of relief that may ensue. I just hope her subjects are ready for such a change.

When the enemy is invading, those duties become more vital than ever. I'd be wary of anyone who says "I don't need to be perfect". While it is true that nobody IS perfect, including Celestia, it doesn't mean that we should actively do the thing we know is wrong and make ourselves worse.
