Journal Entry #3

I haven't been hatched for too long but it's amazing how much a little Wyngling like myself can learn. I've gotten the gist of this whole reading and writing thing. I began this journal to practice when the adults don't have time. It's nice, but I'm not sure how much longer I'll be doing it so I'll just keep at it until I get bored.

Let's see, let's see. The adults asked us to write in our journals about our summer. I'm not quite sure what "summer" is, but they insist that I will know in due time. I guess I didn't really have a grasp of the world beyond my shell post hatch. I've been told that I cracked on the border of summer and fall and that during this coming season the trees will be changing. I don't understand everything, but they said that the easiest way to tell is when the tree's turn from green to yellows, oranges and reds. That seems silly, really. Why don't they turn purple or blue? Maybe I can ask one of the adults when they have time.

Well, aside from my hatching, I haven't met many others aside from the older Wyngros. I don't know if you'd believe this but I really don't want to go and play with the others. I just want to be left alone to watch. The adults say I'm a "spectator" which doesn't make much sense to me. What does a potato and glasses have to do with watching the others play? Weird. Y'know, even though I don't play with the others that often, there is one that keeps bothering me. Her name is "Bailey." I'm not quite sure why but she doesn't seem to get that I don't want to join her in her games. She constantly approaches me and bothers me making these weird faces AND she keeps touching me! I don't get what's with her. Maybe I should just tell her to leave me alone but I have a feeling she won't bo..."

... and the sentence wasn't completed. A crisp autumn colored leaf was smacked onto his head instantaneously breaking his concentration. Fennel turned his gaze towards the strange item to realize that the one manipulating the leaf was none other than Bailey. The nuisance had brought a leaf from outdoors and was seeming to bother him with the new find. Fennel couldn't help but feel mildly intrigued as he wanted to investigate the strange, warm colored item but after seeing the beaming Bailey, he decided to resist.

Speak of the devil and he shall appear.

Well.. in this case, it was she.
