Description
The NFD commissions new units into its Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting Division. The NFD commissions their newly acquired Quick Evacuation Vehicle (QEV), and Mass Casualty Carrier (MCC), and Penetrator Unit .Quick Evacuation Vehicle (QEV)- This unit provide easy access towards the aircraft and will provide an easy way in and out when extracting passengers using backboards or gurneys.
Mass Casualty Carrier (MCC)- This is an advance unit developed by the Research and Development Division of NFD in collaboration with Pinesdor Institute of Science Technology and Engineering (PISTE). The MCC is equipped with retractable platform that can move gurneys swiftly. The MCC can ferry 8 Ambulatory Patients all at once and can act as a moving Emergency Room.
Penetrator Unit- Ths unit is developed by the Research and Development Division of NFD in collaboration with Pinesdor Institute of Science Technology and Engineering (PISTE). The Penetrator Unit is based on a 4x4 Pick-up Truck that can carry 350 Gallons of Water, Basic firefighting and rescue tools, and Emergency Medical Equipment. This unit will respond on emergency calls coming from the terminal and outside the airprt premises that can be classified as low priority calls. The Penetrator Unit will be distributed to the frontline in the succeeding months, since based on the study conducted by NFD-R&D Division, response time are being affected when responding to shallow streets or low-clerance areas around the city, and the deployment of such unit can beef up the department's response time and incident handling efficiently and effectively.
Present during the commissioning ceremony is the ARFF Chief along with NFD Chief of Department, and Chief of Operations.
