Description
At around 1214 Hrs, large and loud explosion is heared and saw multiple blocks away from corner of 7th avenue and City Hall Road. Bystanders and commuters immediately seek shelter and called 911, reporting a large fire on the street. Engine Co. 51, Pumper 151, Tiller Ladder 81, and Battalion 25 whose quarter is 2 streets away from the incident site, saw what happened and immediately responded and cordoned the area from the public. Minutes later Tower Ladder 32, Engine 09 arrived second due. Battalion 25 raised a 5th Alarm fire and signal 10-60 (Major Incident) calling in additional units to respond. As of now units on scene is dousing water to adjacent buildings to prevent the spread of the fire. Newport Police Department closed some major streets to give space for the Fire Department Vehicles arriving. Newport Office of Emergency Services is also notified and responding to the scene.
