So, unbeknownst to some, my boyfriend and I are writing the story of how Yami and Kai came to be. We've been doing it secretly and we got this piece as a scene from the story. Yami looked at Kai then back to the Gomamon who still looked at them while he enjoyed the sauna, "Yea, we'll leave it to you. Were gonna go to the showers and then head on home... thanks for being our uh, lifeguard." Yami said sliding off the seat. The Gomamon looked at Yami with a smile which made the dragon a bit uncomfortable, he wondered what was going through that digimon's head.

"It was fun for a change, actually doing my job. It's the off season so no one really comes, but you did." The Gomamon said with a small blush. Yami's eyes widened a bit, the Gammon’s choice of words were very specific... almost as if he was hinting which made Yami swallow the lump in his throat and he looked at Kai. "Yea, let's get going... have a good one Gomamon." Yami said rushing as fast as could out of the sauna. Perhaps Yami was over thinking the digimon's words, but he couldn't be certain. Hopefully, Kai wouldn't grow suspicious.

Yami looked to Kai, remembering what they had just gone through now that they were a few paces from the sauna. His thoughts returned to that moment he held Kai's paw. That moment he nearly confessed. Suddenly, he couldn't find that strength again. He felt too nervous, too exposed. Yami let out a silent sigh and headed in the direction of the showers. "After we clean... let's head back to the house." Yami mentioned as he collected Kai's glasses being sure not to leave them behind. It wasn't long before they entered a massive octagonal building, separated by gender but nothing else. Digimon did not find nudity to be something of an embarrassment for the most part even though some did wear clothing, not many did. There were several shower heads and a in the center of the room, a single drain where all the water would flow, with the room being slightly downhill. The faucets were incredibly large, much larger then Yami or Kai. They had to be, in order to incorporate all manner of sized digimon, and they could get incredibly large. They actually had another showering area for the digimon that couldn't even fit inside this building. Which was really just a massive faucet on its own as tall as any building.

The room's architecture retained heat and the echo of it gave the room a nice reverb. It was empty on all sides. Yami placed Kai's things down by a nearby bench that were spread throughout for washing one’s feet or having partners to wash ones back, or anything really. Yami looked at the otter and a small blush crossed his cheeks. Had the moment passed? The moment ruined? How could he recover from the awkwardness of this situation...? I mean... he definitely got his message. Kai liked him, and he liked Kai... but that Gomamon’s untimely arrival deteriorated the situation.

"Guess I'll take this faucet." Yami said walking to a nearby faucet and turning the handle. The warm water erupting from the head emitted a small steam that collected at the floor and spread out, disappearing just before the drain. Yami stepped under the water and placed his hands against the ceramic brick wall. He felt the water fall on his head and run down the length of his body. He turned to look at Kai, desperately wanting to have that moment back. What could he say? What could he do? Kai... why can't he say it. I love you and want to be with you forever. Why wouldn't those words come? Happiness was just a sentence away and yet... Kai seemed too distant to reach. Too far to touch. Yami let out another sigh and closed his eyes, turning his head away from Kai.

Kai couldn't help but immediately go back to thinking about what had happened just a minute ago, right before the lifeguard's badly timed arrival. Yami must have been moments away from telling the Dewott that he liked him but now, it seemed as though whatever courage he'd managed to build up in order to do it has been drained out of him when their moment was unintentionally ruined.

Now... Now they definitely didn't have the same atmosphere compared to just earlier, so it was understandable when Kai thought about it. Still, that didn't make him any less annoyed (or frustrated, even). What Yami said did get him a little hopeful, though. He had hoped that they'd be able to head straight back to the house once they were done. Surely, once there, it would be a lot easier to somehow go back to, well... that romantic moment, hopefully. The Dewott's cheeks heated up ever so slightly at the thought of having to wait... It was almost as though he was actually that impatient...

Still, the bathroom? Talk about one of the more unlikely places to try and rebuild the mood... True, the sauna was also a public location, but... The steam made it a bit harder to see inside not to mention that it was a lot easier to tell when someone was coming as opposed to being in such a large room with water soon to be running and making noise. Also, the sauna's much smaller size gave it a much warmer feeling when compared to this large, wide open space...

Giving a quiet nod, Kai took his glasses off again and left them next to his bag, which the two of them had obviously brought with them. He took the faucet right next to Yami but they were still not too close to one another, what with there being enough space for digimon larger than them under each one. Sighing quietly to himself, the water type went ahead and began to shower as well. He wondered whether Yami was staring at him every now and then...

Kai was done cleaning himself before he even realized it. He turned off the faucet and went back to his bag, using one of the two towels inside to try and dry the fur around his face and head to a minimal extent so that he'd be able to put his glasses back on without water getting onto the lenses. Even though it felt like it would be way more ideal to wait until they got back home, the Dewott felt as though he couldn't bear the silence between them any longer.

Yami had finished his shower and noticed Kai wander off towards the towels. The situation from earlier, still fresh on his mind. His body dripped wet as he walked towards Kai. The Pokemon's back turned to him and his wet fur glistening in the lights above. Yami felt his cheeks grow flush, Kai's form was so alluring like this. The light hitting him so perfectly. The way he moved and spoke. Yami kept thinking as he walked forward towards Kai, he felt his heart beating faster and faster. His body began taking him on his own, his mind becoming clear. He needed him, there was no doubt about it. Kai was someone he just had to have, to love and care for.

Kai grabbed the second towel and turned around with the intention of walking over to Yami and handing it to him, because it sounded as though the Veemon was finished as well, only to immediately bump into the blue digimon. The Dewott blinked in surprise, nearly dropping Yami's towel onto the wet floor. "U-Um..." he mumbled quietly, holding the towel out to him. "H-Here..." Now that he could see properly again, it was hard for him not to blush furiously when their eyes met. The Veemon's scales were so shiny now that his body was wet, too...

Yami was about to reach out to him when the Dewott turned and bumped into him. His eyes glistening on the flushed, wet face. Hiding behind a frail pair of glasses. The water collected at each strands end, made him look like he was glowing, like an angel. Kai held out the towel but Yami's eyes never broke from Kais. As he held out the towel, Yami raised his hand up and without words, softly grasped the back of Kai's paw. Yami, worked his fingers in between Kai and the towel, forcing him to let it go and drop to the floor. His hand fully embracing Kai's paw. Yami's gaze softened, if Kai felt the same. If what they had just moments ago was real then, he would know what Yami was feeling right at this moment. Yami stepped a little bit closer, the towel underneath his foot. He was closer, closer than even when they slept in that same bed. The smell of each of their breaths on their noses. Yami couldn't break eye contact, his reddened face beckoning him forward.

He leaned his head forward a little, closer to the Pokémon.

Kai, whose thoughts and emotions were all over the place, honestly didn't know what to think or even expect by that point. The Pokémon’s mind was blank, with the only thing other than Yami's deep eyes that had his attention being the sound of his own rapidly increasing heart rate.

Somehow, the digimon's hand was even gentler than it had been in the sauna earlier. Kai's eyes remained fixated on Yami's, the Dewott mentally taking note of it when the Veemon stepped a little closer. He could practically feel his warm breath because of how close they were and his heart nearly leaped out of his chest when Yami actually began to lean in ever so slowly.

There really could be no doubt about what they were both feeling; what it was they both wanted almost desperately by that point. With Yami being a little bit taller, all Kai had to do was take another tiny step forward, tilt his head to the side ever so slightly and meet the Veemon halfway……
