No, not necessarily, what reminds me of things when I see others work is actually a good thing.. in my opinion anyway..

Yes - lots of Celtic comments.. I can see why though it was never intended - I used a compass for this on every line but for a few - very time consuming but I really enjoyed it nonetheless

Considering this was my second post I was very and am still very happy with it..

You should be... i think it's a great experiment with arcs, and it turned out really well. You can definitely see how your style evolved later on, though some of the complexity of your other stuff is foreshadowed here... i definitely like it.

Actually, 50-odd deviations later I used the same for two more.. [link] and [link] - both completely using compasses

I saw those, but thought they were re-interpretations of the theme... well, they kind of are, no?

I'm also not a big fan of multiple colors, especially the pastels... but that's saying more about my taste than your art, for sure.

I love colour!! I'm just ashamed I can't string two together in a coherent fashion..!

the-storkk In reply to Veganvictim [2009-01-20 20:34:46 +0000 UTC]

Well, like I said in my comment on the piece itself, I think the color combinations work very well, with the possible exception of the brown/green... that may just be my taste, but it seems you have an interesting complementary color study there (#62 [link] ), with both additive and subtractive color combinations. (Cyan vs Yellow and Blue vs Magenta, or C vs M and B vs Y, it's interesting either way).

Anyway, i'd argue it IS coherent, and i'd love to be able to do as well.

I might upload a scrap, just to show you definitively that a liberal use of colors simply doesnt work for me at the stage of artistic maturity I'm at, hehe...

Those colours I chose beause when you invert them (in Paint or Photoshop etc..) they are the same as the opposing colour - ha! I know what I mean!!

I also don't submit every poorly coloured piece I do

Please do, would be good to see it even if you think it's a scrap.. (remember the conversation yesterday about one mans art is anothers junk etc..)

I've walked in a real one before. It was quite amazing, actually. I've also done the one where you judt glide your finger on textured artwork. It's very soothing. It accesses some part of our brain. I can't explain it at the moment. I read about it somewhere. Perhaps, you know what I'm talking about?

This is really nice, I love how your images are so sharp and clear.

Veganvictim In reply to MorriganCrow [2005-10-30 11:12:57 +0000 UTC]

this one isn't very sharp - but that's due to the paper and pencil i used!

thanks sweetie

What did you use for this drawing? Is it chalks, pastels? It has the most amazing 3-D effect.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Veganvictim In reply to LimeApple [2005-10-13 10:51:05 +0000 UTC]

it's just pencil on white paper, but it's grainy paper, then i negative imaged it and it's turned out like this - i do it for all my abstract works cause i like how black becomes white and white becomes black - thanks so much for th4e fav and the watch - you;re a star

I keep looking back at this piece and thinking how much fun it'd be to do in glass....

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Veganvictim In reply to Shuibhne [2006-02-10 11:03:42 +0000 UTC]

well your glass skills are... how shall i say this.... a fucking shit load better than mine!

so if you are interested then by all means use the design - i've had some of my stuff etched by someone before and it came out well - maybe this would look good in glass

it reminds me of some mystical symbol carved into an ancient tablet. the added border gives it a nice touch.

This is an interesting piece...
Has an ancient feel to it... a celtic symbol or a drawing found in caves of a mythical, magical, place!

Great piece!

Veganvictim In reply to PSPMistress [2005-06-24 23:14:01 +0000 UTC]

a fair few people have said it looks tribal - i thought it looked more technological - it cetainly wasn't produced with any theme in mind - i just did it with a compass is all so maybe to some it is and to others it isn't

thankyou anyway for your comment - like your signature

charles rennie macintosh? lol, a famous scottisharchitect kinda guy. He designed glasgow school of art and various other famous scottish (glasgow) places like the macintosh tearooms if u've heard of them. I think a lotta americas are into going there lol. >> <<

I'm sure he has a website if you wanted to find ouy more, you'd reconise the kinda art' deco thing he has goin' on there.
