Description This time around, I'm taking a stab at action. There are a couple of different ways to bring action & excitement to a drawing. In Figure A, we can can clearly see Asuka dashing towards something or someone. By drawing the hair flowing almost horizontally, it tells you that the person is moving at great speed. Pretty much common sense. Figure B shows Asuka charging straight at you & about to punch somebody. A simple use of fore-shortening was used here to give her a coming at you look. Just draw the objects that would be closer to you larger & the farther away parts smaller. Just basic perspective.
One of the best ways to come up with action poses is the cinema. That's right, movies. While you're watching a movie, get your sketch pad & pause button ready. Any time you see something that looks cool to you, pause & sketch it out. Figure C was taken from the movie "Shinobi". I just tweaked the hand gestures to better match Neji's fighting style. In Figure D, we see Kakashi moving straight towards the reader, wich is commonly used in many mangas, like Naruto when the characters are running through the woods & Dragonball when they are flying to a battle or location. There's another subtle use of fore-shortening & perspective. Figure E was a requested profile/side view shot because many newer artists have difficulty drawing them. I'll cover that on a more in-depth scale in a later tutorial.
Figure F is more of a "ready for action" pose using Clownface & his daughter Panda from Jason Pearson's comic Body Bags. Notice how I added perspective on Clownface's left arm, giving it the look as though he's swinging it past his body. I also gave them some interaction by having Panda hanging off her father's neck & her legs standing on his thighs(ouch).
I hope this is as helpful to some of you as a couple of the other tuitorials I've posted. I special thanks goes out to Burgundyca & Hound93 for their assistance with this tutorial. Thanks Guys!

No problem! But thank you! I'd still be figuring out who to draw if it weren't for you & Burgundyca. I've had a serious case of artist's block for the last couple of days.

Yeah, but I was totally psyched when I decided to do a Body Bags picture! That's one of my favorite comics of all time!
