Description Miss Ruth Elizabeth Becker (1899-1990), who survived the sinking of the Titanic.

Twelve year old Ruth boarded the Titanic along with her mother and siblings as second-class passengers on April 10, 1912 at Southampton, England. Shortly after the ship's collision with the iceberg at 11:40 p.m. on April 14th, Ruth recalled that a steward told her mother, "We've had a little accident. They're going to fix it, and then we'll be on our way." Realizing that the ship was seriously damaged, Nellie took her children up to the boat deck.

A steward helped load Marion and Richard into Lifeboat No. 11, but would not let Nellie in. It was only after pleading with the steward that he finally consented, but Ruth was not allowed in. Her Mother then screamed to Ruth telling her to get in another lifeboat. Ruth later got tossed into Lifeboat No. 13 by Sixth Officer James Moody.

Nellie and her three children were all picked up by the rescue ship RMS Carpathia. Although it was a struggle to find her mother on the ship Ruth finally managed to. They arrived in New York City on April 18th.

She's gorgeous, just like the Titanic was and still is, and will always be.

She's always been my favorite. I remember we had to do a project about a Titanic passenger that you chose from a small list. Many girls chose Ms. Astor and I chose Ruth, though she wasn't on the list. the teacher was like "She's not on this list", my reply "That doesn't mean she wasn't on the ship." I got 110% on the paper

I have an obsession with the Titanic, and particularly its child survivors. This is such a gorgeous photograph and I love how you have tinted it. It looks like it could be real.

That's so sad...I almost, like, teared up!! >.<
I found this website about a month ago that had the ENTIRE list of all the Titanic passengers. Who all died, and who survived, and what boats. I'm a HUGE fan of Titanic, and even though I wasn't there, it sure did effect me. Not the love story in the movie, really, but just watching the movie made me feel like I was there and how HORRIBLE the experience was!!! O:

I am a huge titanic fanatic it is great seeing artifacts and all but you really want to know who owned them and the story behind it and fortunatly she survived and was able to tell her story but it always stumps me...
the question of what lies beneath the surface the hundreds of untold stories of lost souls perished on Titanic's first and final voyage.
