There was a commotion inside.

There was ALWAYS a commotion inside. How those two humans managed to keep everyone in line, he would never understand. Slade cracked open an eye lazily only to see snow. He yawned, stretching and he stood up, shaking the snow off of him in the pile that had grown overnight.

Padding to the door, he slapped at the handle with his paw only for it to creak open. The door was open..? He nudged the door with his nose and walked inside. Why was everythign so bland? He recalled yesterday the garlands and the tree, the presents and the smells of holiday cooking. Yet none of those were now present..The house was empty and melancholy hung thick in the air.

"Where did everything go?!" Lindsey's mohawk was usually untamed, but seeing it in all of its bedhead glory made the Lycanroc mix snicker softly. He human male threw his hands up. "All that decorating, all that stress and someone just goes and steals it all?!"

"C..Calm down, please.." Whimper Frost. She was almost on the verge of tears. Charlotte was curled around her gently, also trying not to cry. "This was s..supposed to be our first Christmas here." She sniffled, wiping her face lightly with a sleeve.

Taam sat on her haunches with her arms folded. A clawed finger gently tapping her arm out of frustration as she glanced at Slade.

"Hey, big guy!" Her frame may have been small, but the small Charmander's voice demanded attention.

"Yes..Powder puff..?" Grumbled the Lycanroc mix as he padded over to the two humans. A soft nuzzle to a hand here, and a gentle bump to a leg there.. Humans were so easy to calm downif you were a dog. He didn't know why. "What does her royal painliness demand now?"

There was a scoff as the pink Charmander tapped ehr foot on the ground.

"Can't you see we have a crisis here?" She scowled, glaring at him. She never cared for Slade ever since he wandered in out of nowhere. He always had a weird air about him.. And every now and then she could have swore he was checking on an item of some sort that he kept tucked away in the skull on his chest.

"Oh..Missing cookies and some sparkly plastic pine needles and we have a crisis.." The Lycanroc mix grumbled as he sat next to the humans who gently pet his mane. His tail wagged slowly at the attention.

"Yes!" She jumped up, quickly stopped by Charlotte who had her sit back down.

"M..Mother's right." The Zangoose mix stammered out, looking at him. "T..This was supposed to be a familial occassion.. We'd ask father to look into it, but he's overseeing the events at his ranch." She took a shaky breath and she stepped forward. "A..And Liaku is spending time with Soleil and Lani..w..while Foxx is at her own residence." Her face flushed a light pink as she recalled that moment under the mistletoe with Foxx.. The Jirachi/Gardevoir had such beautiful eyes.. And a charming voice..a..and....

"Fluff butt." The voice snapped her out of her thoughts as she looked at Slade. The Lycanroc mix had one quirked eyebrow as he stared at her with his glowing pupils. "Y'alright? Your face is gettin' pretty pink.."

His words made her face turn a deeper shade of red as she covered it with her claws. To this there was a gruff sigh. "Fine.. I'll look."

Both Taam and Charlotte looked up at him in somewhat disbelief.

Slade got up, yawning as he received more pets. Good, the humans had calmed down. He padded off towards the door, claws gently clicking on the wooden floor.

"Said I'd get on it..Don't want your dad's plans getting ruined and all.. 'sides.. This is a family holiday right?" He glanced back as he nudged the door back open. "I'll get our stuff back, jsut keep them calm."

With that he went out the door, sniffing around. The scent was strange, but he raced off into the snow.

Being a Ghost type had its perks - he couldn't feel the cold. He ran for what seemed like hours as the scenery all looked the same, but he knew he was running in the right direction though, his nose didn't lie. After a while he slowed to a trot then a cautious walk as he approached the cave. He had never ventured this far out before. He paused outside the entrance as he mulled over his thoughts..

They were disfunctional, but they had accepted him.. And it was his duty to make sure that everyone was happy on this holiday.

He was the Warrior of Loyalty after all.

This took roughly 10 hours and I am pleased with the result.. I don't have an animation program so everything had to be drawn on separate layers and saved separately then smashed togther with gifmaker.

Slade gains 128 levels! Slade is now level 100!
