Description
Serial Killer and Goodnight, John-Boy are the first books from Pat Mill's trilogy, Read Em and Weep. The story is about Dave Maulding who works as a comic book editor in the 1970's and he's not a fan of his young readers at all. In the comic's he leaves lethal information for his audience to find and hopes that they all end up in some nasty 'accidents,' but instead discovers that the children are taking this deadly knowledge and using it against the adults that abuse them.He delights in this but soon his mother pays him a visit, which is strange because she is dead. She demands that her son take on her case and try to find out who murdered her. He is reluctant to do this but his mother can be very persuasive.
And to make matters worse figures from his childhood are coming back to haunt him.
Mini Review:
The cover is what drew me to this book, plus comic's and serial killers, I had to have it! I went into this knowing nothing about the writers' other works so I wasn't sure what I was going to get myself into.
Through part one I thought that this book was interesting but wasn't for me but I decided to keep going and I'm so glad I stuck with it. This is unlike anything I've read before and I loved it! I've never read a dark humour book before and I'm so scared to pick up another because my expectations are so high for them now. I need the third book now!

Isn't it excellent when you keep going and are rewarded.
I have just read a trilogy where the first two books had just enough to keep me tagging along and then I loved the third one. An overall mixture of disappointment and pleasure. A bit like life really

I will say that I have had a rather disappointing reading year, I've read so much which were just 'ok' and only a few real favourites were found. Last year was a much better reading year. Still trying to get a bunch of series finished!
And agreed
