Footnote from a Wayworld Researcher’s Journal, Page 471

"It is a wise idea, if one sees the hooded form of a lone figure, of looming height wandering the night within ancient graveyards, not to approach suddenly. In fact, do not approach strangers in such locations and such garb at all. If you must, be loud about it, don't sneak up. You might loss some years off your life, for one one occasion I did just that, and a beast burst forth from the cloak of what seemed fabric!

You might be lucky however, because it scuttered off on legs of massive spiders before it could devour me. Perhaps my scream scared it off? Regardless, I have learnt well, I shall not repeat these actions again!"

I wasn't lying when I said Rook was...unique to my usual characters, and I can't say exactly what inspired me to create them, there were a few reasons I think. The main one I can remember though, at first was the urge to create a character that would make people go "What the heck!?"And I think I have made that XD

Honestly, I didn't even know what sort of creature I was making, but as often happens my sis helped when I showed her the rough I had created. She told me he looked like a Re Incartum had a drunk one night stand with a nightmare creature...

Welp that idea stuck XD

I have tweaked his background a bit since, but that is essentially what Rook is, a hybrid child of a Re Incartrum and a creature belonging to the shadows. I won't reveal which one, but I will give a hint which one. Rook here resembles a coloured character I have in my gallery, not a lot of resemblance, but hopefully enough to hint who they are.

Anyway, as some might know with my Re Incartrum characters they can have children, if they ever aged to a point where they can bare or sire children, and these children can fall into different categories for their kind.

These categories basically sum up what one might be able to predict about their lives.

You have Perfects, which take greatly after the Re Incartrum parent, inheriting some of their abilities, and even developing their own unique ones. They can even become progenitor races in their own right, siring new species as their lives progress.

There are the Stables, children born with some of their parent's abilities, but usually with shorter lifespans as well as usually not being able to have children of their own, and can be frail.

The there is the Unstable category, which sums up a great deal of the nature of these children. They are born with unstable and mutated bodies and often fall deathly ill not long after birth. They also tend to be born with unstable mental states as well, showing psychotic behaviours. These don't tend to live long.

However, there is one last category, one created that hold only two members. He's in the Obscure category, along with Ark, the chimera made hybrid born of the Re Incartrum Pandora.

Rook however was naturally born, emerging from a egg long after the rest of his clutch had hatched and died. His development might have been delayed due to the massive amount of mutations his body had undergone before birth. These mutations, while giving him a monstrous appearance have allowed Rook the ability to blend into a world hostile to anything that can be labelled as a monster, even if only just. He has learnt to compact his body and hide within his strange mane of hair, scales and webbing. Doing this he can force himself down into a smaller form, appearing as a figure donned in a tattered cloak.

However, forcing such a large body like his into such a compact shape can have...unexpected reactions if startled as explained in the footnote excerpt above...

I'm still working out his details so I will be posting up more about Rook here soon. I will say though, despite his appearance Rook isn't a mindless monster, and is in fact sentient and benevolent. Just...timid, very timid and hasn't had a lot of interaction with people. As one can understand, not many people are willing to brave it out to interact with this guy long enough to realise he won't harm them.

That doesn't mean that if attacked he won't defend himself, but will flee if given a chance and tries to avoid killing at all costs.

Also fun fact, no one has ever actually seen his fully body before, this is about the most you will see, he keeps himself hidden very well within his shroud there or in his disguised state, he's...well pretty shy

Also, I will say I did make him up with the intent and ability to nom people if needed, as a scare tactic, or friendly reasons however he deems it, in which case Rook is able to dislocate his jaws, or, if pressed for time open the maw he has in his chest. He usually has this tightly closed but for picture sake has it open for whatever reason. Normally he uses this for when he needs to eat but is using his month due to speaking or whatever reason, or if he's using his prehensile tongue, which he tends to use to pick fruit or catch small mammals, even picking up objects at times although he avoids doing this even around people who won't run from him since they tend to get a little grossed out >.>

Anyway that is all I can type for now, need to go to bed. Been working on these pictures for two days and burnt out a little bit, but worth it X3 I really love this character.
