Description
Heres a WIP look at a custom Blaster head I'm working on. This will be made for the Universe repaint, and come with a gun. Not sure about the actual run, if any. But it'll be available in som form. I'll also make 2 versions available on shapeways for customisers to use.The head has a flip down visor, and 2 faces. And will come with an updated gun. Let me know what you all think.

I've always been a huge fan of Blaster's nose guard - especially when the early comics colored it like some wierd 1930s Zorro mask. XD
Oh, and the flip down visor is TOO rad for words.

I know people have asked for this "upgrade" before on forums, to fan groups. I picked up my Universe Blaster on sale at walmart. Though, I passed it the first time, as it was during the time before I started doing these laser prototype stuff. I was lucky to find one later, otherwise I wouldn't be making this. XD

Which repaint, Venk? The Cybertron Soundwave one?

Have you thought about adapting this to work with the Titanium Soundwave figure? Cybertron Soundwave is an extremely angular figure, quite the opposite of Blaster's tell-tale round dome. Simply voicing concern, I'm afraid that one of the two components here will look grossly out of place when put together.

I don't have the Titanium soundwave figure. But I'd think anyone wanting to repaint it into Blaster could use the deluxe version of the head I'll be making available. Good call on the angular style for Cybertron Soundwave. I'll have to take a look at that...

I personally prefer the top-right one. The other one looks like Optimus Primal to me. The visor's a nice touch, though.
The one thing that'd really bring out the character is a "Hey, good-lookin'!" grin.

Hmm, I guess he could use another face. The top-right one is based off the original toy. So it would resemble Primal, hehe.

Hmm Yeah a "Hey Good looking" Grin would be perfect for Blaster.
Hello Hello Cybertron this is Earth... OWWW.

Thanks! I like the mold, just wished they had done some remolding to give Blaster some justice.

nicely done are there really that many restrictions when using shapeways?

Venksta In reply to TGping [2009-12-09 04:39:55 +0000 UTC]
The restrictions are mostly with size, and how the polygons are layed out. It can be a pain if a problem arises, as I've spent 2 hours tracking down one single problem before.

Ah, ok, I thought they would have been of a different nature.

Well, to be fair the first face was how he looked in the comics.

It was a blend between the first and the visor down, I believe.

I'd like the second one. I know the first is homaging the original, but I just like the normal face.
Any idea how much this would be if you were selling it? If it's cheap enough I would definitely be interested...

Yeah, I prefer the normal face as well, as I'm use to the toon. I hope $10 for this set, and it'll be limited, as I don't want to keep making them forever, lol.

Blaster is one of my favorite Autobots. Him and Jazz in particular. You REALLY do him justice. He almost has a "I know I'm awesome" mirk on his face. Well done all around ^_^

Thats just based off my estimate from the Prime/Megatron weapons. But final price I would expect around that ball park for sure.
