When Moondancer had sent a letter that she was coming to visit, Twilight was unable to contain the frustration she felt. She would love to see her friend, to hang out with her for a day, but she was drowning in her work.

Spike had refused.

“I’ll get the foals for the day and I cleared your schedule the moment Moondancer’s letter arrived.” Spike grinned his toothy, guilty grin. Twilight sighed.

“Spike…” She groaned.

“What? You’ve needed a day off for a few years now, Twilight. Tempest and I will thank you for it.” Spike jerked a thumb back at Tempest, who was smiling at a joke Stella and Star had just told her. Tempest turned to Twilight for only a split second, winking.

“You guys are diabolical.” Twilight snickered, shutting her empty logbook. Twilight knew she was missing something, though. “Wait… what about Lustre?”

“I sent her to spend a day with her father. It had been a while since she had a three day weekend. Sunburst was thankful for it. He had wanted to see how her lessons were going. And Flurry could use the company, too.” Spike babbled on, reassuring Twilight over and over.

“Okay, okay, I get it.” Twilight waved Spike away with her hoof. “I’m going!”

“I sent a letter saying you would meet her at Savoir Fare’s place at 2.” Spike continued on, backing up before Twilight could playfully slap him on the shoulder.

“Celestia above! It’s been too long. So how are Minuette and Twinkle Shine?” Twilight sat next to Moondancer as Savoir set the drink down next to her. It had been a million years since Twilight had a sip of alcohol. She savored every drop.

“They’re great. But I’ve missed you, nobody else understands my astrology studies as well as you do.” Moondancer laughed a bit, Twilight joining in.

“Cheers!” Twilight lifted her drink up and clinked it with Moondancer’s jauntily.

It was reaching midnight before Twilight and Moondancer stumbled through the door of the castle, both hiccuping and cackling at insurmountable heights.

They reached Twilight’s room, clamoring around to stay on their hooves.

“I’ve missed you, Twilight.” Moondancer placed her hoof over Twilight’s cheek sloppily and bit her lip. “A lot.”

Twilight swallowed the lump in her throat, grinning right along with Moondancer. “Lemme get cleaned up and I’ll join you in a sec. Get comfortable, Moony.” Twilight winked and snorted a bit at her attempts at flirting. She really liked Moondancer and it had been so long since… well since she had shared her bed with anyone…

Twilight made it to the bathroom, lifting her toothbrush with her magic and swiftly brushing her teeth, feeling giddy, like she was floating on air.
