Alright ;w; I'll start, then..
Maplepaw sat in camp, a bit buzzed from his ceremony still. His maple-red tail wrapped across his paws as he scans the area, looking for his new mentor. He wanted to start training soon.

Deercloud sighed, nervous, as she just had gotten a new apprentice. She looked around, pushing gently through the crowd of cats to look for Maplepaw. Finally spotting him, she padded over to him. "Hey, are you ready to go?" she asked. The older she-cat then added, "We're going to start with teaching you how to hunt, if you're alright with that."

Maplepaw gave a quick nod, green eyes glittering with excitement despite his calm attitude about finally becoming an apprentice. He stood up, tail flicking "I'm fine with that~" he responded to her "and yes, I'm ready to head out." he quickly responded to the first question afterwards.

Deercloud smiled, nodding her head in agreement. She was quite happy that Maplepaw was somewhat excited. She purred, "Alright then, let's go." Deercloud then padded to the entrance of the camp, waiting for her apprentice.

Maplepaw followed along afterwards, tasting the air quickly. He quickly sped up afterwards, "Where are we going to hunt?" he asked quietly.

Deercloud continued walking. "Around the border, I suppose. I hear there's tons of prey around that area," she replied, looking forward. After a few more minutes of walking, she opened her jaws a bit to taste the air. She scented the border, trailed with the fresh scent of prey. "Step lightly, we're almost there," she added, flicking her tail.

"Lightly... lightly..." maplepaw mumbled to himself as he slowly took a step, he quickly grew used to these 'light' steps and he picked up the pace "R-right."

Hearing Maplepaw mumble to himself, she turned around, seeing what he was doing. She chuckled a bit, "It's an expression, you know. It's not meant to be taken seriously." She purred. "It means be careful, but I didn't mean that careful. Don't take things so seriously, Maplepaw," she joked, then turnt back to look forward.

Maplepaw's head rose quickly "Y-yeah sorry..." he squeaked quietly, not wanting to stir up any prey. he quickly went back to scanning for prey. He actually hadn't a clue how to hunt, but it didn't seem to be clear just by looking at the rather calm apprentice.

Deercloud purred, whispering "Don't be." She then stopped in a clearing. She waved her tail, opening her jaws a bit. "Alright, we're here," she mewed. "Do you scent anything?" she asked him, looking over.

Maplepaw stood up straight, opening his jaw slightly and tasting the air. He closed his eyes to concentrate a bit as he breathed in the scent of, perhaps, a squirrel. "I think... There's a squirrel nearby?" he said in a hushed tone.

Deercloud gave a small nod, smiling. "Yes," she mewed quietly. "Now, the thing you need to remember about with squirrels," she paused to fix herself into a crouch, "is that they're fast, and can climb trees. So, we have to be quite fast to catch them. Watch carefully." She then aimed her eyes on the squirrel. With one swift move, she dashed forward, then pushing down on the squirrel before it could run off. She dug her claws into it, killing the prey.

Maplepaw watched with extreme concentration, as he wanted to remember everything she says. He carefully and swiftly made it towards his mentor, tail lashing. "O-okay! That makes sense."

"Great!" she purred quietly, happy. "Alright, now it's your turn," she added. She buried the prey, then opened her jaws. "There's another squirrel right over there. Try to catch it," she whispered, tail pointing to the squirrel. She sat down quietly, watching with great interest as in what her apprentice would do.

Maplepaw lowered himself to the forest floor, ear flicking slightly as he neared the squirrel. He accidentally stepped on a stick, and the squirrel was soon alerted of his presence. He shot forward, smashing the squirrel down last minute before it was capable of dashing up the tree. If it weren't for his speed and quick reflexes, the squirrel would have certainly escaped his grasp. "It almost got away.." Maplepaw mumbled to himself, picking up the squirrel.

"Either way, it's a great first catch!" she smiled, a bit proud herself. Deercloud flicked her tail. She got up and smiled. "Bury it, and we'll continue," she mewed, opening her jaws to scent some prey.

Maplepaw reluctantly buried his prey, obviously still quite upset that he was unable to catch it more easily. Even though it was his first catch, he was still upset at himself.

Deercloud looked over. "Hey, it was a good catch. Everyone makes mistakes, even on their first time. There's more prey out there to be caught," she said, smiling. "Good luck!" She whispered. She then quietly went off hunting, but was also watching her apprentice.

Maplepaw gave a quick nod, tasting the air again. After a bit of doing this, he was able to scent a mouse. He turned his attention to the small rodent, crouching down again. He stalked it, leaping forward. The mouse slipped passed his paws, and ran off. "Mouse-dung." he spat under his breath.

Deercloud scented a vole, then got into position. She crouched, stalking it quietly. She then leaped when the vole, but it was too fast for her, and she missed. She chased after it, gaining speed. She pounced on it, but it slipped through her paws, and landed with a thump. She got up, shaking the dirt from the fur. She looked over to Maplepaw, seeing that he hadn't caught anything either. "I guess it's just bad luck," she mewed to herself.

Maplepaw's ears flattened, and he hissed something under his breath to himself. He glanced over at Deercloud, giving a quite upset expression. He lowered his jaw once more, not giving up on this hunt. He scented yet another mouse. He quickly tracked it down. It was a scrawny little mouse, so it wasn't the best of prey to catch. He leaped forward, chasing the mouse down. He caught it after a bit of running, but the tiny little runt of a rodent wasn't exactly an achievement.

Deercloud sighed lightly, then sat down to watch him. She looked happy as she watched her apprentice. She then perked up, seeing him catch the mouse. She purred, flicking her tail. "Nice catch!"

"Mm." Maplepaw shrugged "I suppose..." he mumbled, burying the kill quickly. Afterwards, he bounded over to his mentor.

"Well, I suppose we should get our kills and bring them back to camp," she waved her tail. "Eat, get some rest and we'll do some battle training later," she padded over to the spots where she buried the prey. She dug it up, and carried them in her mouth. Padding over, she waited for her apprentice.

Maplepaw nodded, standing up and beginning to scramble back to the camp "What kind of battle practice?" he asked suddenly, ears perked. He quite enjoyed training, and battle training sounded just... perfect right now.

"Oh, er, beginner stuff," Deercloud mumbled, prey still in her jaws. "Nothing too advanced, just some basic moves, as this is your first day as an apprentice," she added. The older she-cat continued to walk forward.

"Beginner stuff..." Maplepaw looked up at the sky as he strolled slowly "What would 'basic moves' be described as?" he asked softly as he kept a steady pace.

"Nothing too hard. Maybe some pouncing practice, swatting with your paws," she mewed, padding along. Deercloud shrugged lightly, "Stuff like that."

"Alright!" Maplepaw let out a small sigh. That didn't sound the most of fun, but you have to start somewhere.

She gave a small nod, finally arriving at camp. She dropped her fresh-kill into the stocked pile, waving her tail. "Now, go rest for a bit. I'll be back in some minutes to pick you up to train you," Deercloud purred.

Maplepaw gave a nod, a bit too excited to get back to training. He sat by the apprentice's den, soaking in the heat that radiated off of the sun. He was quite fond of the warmth of it, and would never complain to getting a break in the sun, no matter how excited he was for training.

With that, she padded off into the clearing. Deercloud went on a patrol with some others, a bit tired. After marking the territory, she came back many minutes after she had first left her apprentice. She looked over to her apprentice. "Hey, are you ready?" She asked, standing at the entrance of the apprentice den. Deercloud flicked her ear, waiting.
