It impressed at how you managed to limit the double exposure factor to just the out of focus light... well done

Well, I think the reason that the only visible texture is the bokeh is because I took the texture shots at night on the road - so only the brightest aspect showed up once I took the photos of the girls. I guess if the second exposures were also taken at night then more of the texture would've shown through.
Thanks for your comment, I appreciate the support!

Fair enough, I might have to try that, I'm always a little scared of double exposures (I mean what if I end up taking an awesome photo and overlaying a really rubbish one on to it, major regret...) so this I might go this way and ease myself gently into it! haha
Just a Little bit of double exposure...
Love it

Yeah, you should definitely try it!
I understand being scared about it, it's partially why I always have at LEAST 2 cameras on me (always the DSLR), more often I even take 3. I like to have back up images in different formats.
But double exposure gets easier the more you do it (as with most things). I really love it, it's like in-camera editing

Hmm yeah as it it happens I developed a film earlier today where I accidentally did some double exposures and I love them! Definitely need to explore...
They're heavy though and I'd need to carry them ALL the time!

The accidental ones are often some of the best ones
and yes, in my group of friends i'm always the one carrying 2 full bags because of the cameras i always bring >.<
it can get annoying but i don't regret it when i see the moments i capture

I totally understand
I think this weekend I'm going to try a couple of your ideas out, just for practice, gonna make a couple of background films, maybe some out of focus light and maybe some flames- I love Hazard Perception !
I'll let you know how it goes

awesome, i wish you luck
please do keep me informed, link me when you post the results!
and thanks so much, i'm glad you like 'Hazard Perception' -i think the flames are so far my most successful double exposure texture (i have several more to post)

yeah, a double exposure with bokeh at night
what camera/s do you use for your double exposures?
it's important to remember to under-expose the texture shot, and for the second exposure to take it like a normal shot (maybe underexpose it a bit if conditions are very sunny).
i also mark the film to make the 2 exposures line up correctly.
but yeah, it takes some time to really get the hang of multiple exposures, and even then it's always a hit-and-miss kind of business because there are so many other factors that affect the end result that you can't really control.

ooh I'll have to remember to mark my film, that's a great idea!

neat, but frankly, I would have liked it better without the lil' bokeh.

yeah i know what you mean, the bokeh here looks most obviously like traffic. it also landed right on her head/face... i still like it but it would be nice to have a similar clear shot too. unfortunately i didn't get any good digital shots in this pose, it got dark pretty quickly.
thanks though

This is great. I have gotten a few double exposures accidentally, mostly on my Holga, I haven't really tried to get any on purpose. I may have to try if this is the result. Love it!

VeraAda In reply to Besaw [2010-02-05 01:06:44 +0000 UTC]
I love double/multiple exposures - I'm kind of stuck on them actually.
You should definitely try making them on purpose! Considering how amazing accidental shots can be, imagine what you can achieve when you have a bit more control over the image. I never know which shot will line up with which when I do these, because I never write down the details of every frame I take... so some of that 'accidental' feeling is still there. Though just recently I found out my camera has a double-exposure lever - I haven't used it yet.
Thank you so much, I really appreciate the support

no, i just take all the photos on the roll of film, then when i finish and wind the film back into the cassette, i put it in the camera again and take photos once more
