Through years of work and edits and rehauls, Hesperus’ sigilmatrix is one of the most advanced feats of working sigilmancy in The City. Although Naenia has repeatedly assured her allies that it is only a marionette and lacks sentience, some remain... skeptical. It can make its own decisions, after all -- granted in a rather limited capacity. Some still find it quite unnerving, and a few brave souls have asked Naenia if she really wants to make it smarter. (The answer is, of course, yes.)

Long to Mid-Range Combat. → Technically speaking, Naenia doesn't have to be anywhere near her target to crush it. Hesperus is a one-marionette wrecking ball.

Uptime. → If damaged, Hesperus can conceivably be repaired and be redeployed much faster than if a flesh-and-blood being was comparatively injured.

Strives to Improve. → A firm believer in the idea that perfection is impossible to attain, but something to work toward nonetheless. As such, she is never satisfied with her work and always thinks of ways to make it better.

Hesperus is most of her damage. → She can’t fight well for long if she is separated from it or it is damaged.

Marathon fights/extended periods of activity → Although she's worked hard to improve its efficiency, Hesperus still requires a large amount of power to operate and cannot be recharged mid-battle.

Close combat. → Naenia herself doesn't quite have the punch that her marionette does.

Notorious → There are few things Naenia loves more than heckling/pranking/teasing others. Her trollish attitude endears her to... few people.

Above all else, there are few that can deny that Naenia has drive. Once she has a goal in mind, she doesn't give up -- and she does not stray from those she has pledged her loyalty or her services to. With that being said, she is a mischievous and fickle creature as well; she may like you, but that doesn't mean she won't prank you. Or drop pithy one-liners at your expense: you snooze, you lose, and if you leave yourself wide open for a shot, she's going to take it. Everything's fair game, and Naenia doesn't give anything less than her best.

While as long as she has a goal, Naenia will work tirelessly toward it, it's in between projects that people around her have to be wary; she's easily bored and isn't fond of waiting around for things to happen. In an ideal scenario, her curious mind will kick in and invent new mysteries of sigilmancy for her to play around with, but... well, she does love inconveniencing people. It's given her a bit of a reputation, honestly -- one that she thinks is well-deserved (and is something she's quite proud of), but pouts at nonetheless. She does know how to be nice... it's just that it isn't fun all the time,

Some might theorize that she just likes being the center of attention, that she's a spoiled genius-brat who never really learned to share her toys. (Which, to be fair... it's quite possible she never did learn. Sharing, that is.) Who knows.

House Kingsley is an old house, and have spent decades building up their connections and reputation -- investments that have finally begun to pay off in the last twenty years or so as more and more houses look to their advice or look at what decisions they support. Much of their influence is tied up in accumulated favors owed them and other related politicking, though they do experience modest success in turning out trade brokers. Their current Alpha is Mason. Their current Senator is Warrick.

History:
Her mother's hands are a network of scars both new and faded. When she is young, she likes to trace little toddler fingers over the raised white lines, and sometimes her mother will reveal how she got which ones. "Nicked myself carving," Anise sheepishly admits for a thin line that wraps around her index finger; "A fu--riggin' cat knight went for my eyes," is the story behind a thick star on her palm with a mirror on the back of her hand.

Naenia knows what she wants to do the moment she sees her mother swing a sword wreathed in flames.

Father is a faded photograph, memories of him worn around the edges but handled with fondness, fragments of him frozen forever in her mind. The exasperated crinkle of his brow when he realizes that his oldest daughter has stolen away his weapons to peer at their enhancements. His softest smile, glimpsed when he caught a glimpse of his sleeping wife. Warm hands around her own.

The pain associated with these thoughts of him is an old ache oft-ignored. She will be a fresh-faced sixteen when her mother is told of his passing, and Anise will go to work the next day, soul heavy and resigned and resolute.

"I love your father," she will tell Naenia, their hands clasped together after the short ceremony to add his name to the House Memorial. "I will always love him. But he was not a smart man, and the war feasts on men who cannot judge what risks to take. This was always going to be his fate, and I accepted that long ago."

Anise will not weep, will not wail. She will, however, quietly resign her position when Naenia turns eighteen, presumably due to losing an arm -- despite generous offers of building a prosthetic should she continue to serve. She will sleep more than she ever has, and Naenia will only check to make sure she is at least eating a few times a day.
