Thanks for the tips!
Drawing faces, especially when it comes to human faces, is very difficult draw and to get it to look just right.

This tutorial was unbelievably helpful! I've been having so much trouble lately with faces being drawn anatomically correct, and this here got me on the right track.

say, do u think using tools like "eclipse" to draw a perfect circle or use "curves" to make a line art line, or lets say copying one eye, pasting it ,and placing it on the other side
considered cheating? i mean even though im strugling to get things perfect, im always tempted to use the tools that the program has to offer dunno if i'll ever get flamed if i say one day "yeah you draw a circle by using the circle tool"

No way. Tools exist to make life easier, and I do stuff like that all the time. There's no circle tool in SAI, which is what I use for lineart, but if there was, I'd use it. And occasionally, when I have a direct facial view where you have to get perfect symmetry, I'll copy one eye and paste it flipped horizontally. I mean, you always have to ask permission of the author when you copy something. So I ask myself for permission, since I drew the eye in the first place .

I forget which one but I saw your mirror-method in another of your tutorials and it really helped with my latest Zelda page xD; Link's eyes kept turning out all funky. Probably still are.
What really gets under my nerves is when the sketch looks perfect, but tracing the final lines (or "hardlines" as I call them) turns out looking f-ed up. Usually that's what happens with my pages :s
Do you do each facial feature on a new layer in case it has to be altered later?

verticalfish In reply to IceFlame1019 [2012-08-03 22:44:00 +0000 UTC]
Naw, I just alter the sketch, and try to make it look as good as possible before laying down the precise version of the lines.

ah.
I've been trying to do that, but then the sketch ends up becoming the lineart.
Another question, do you Livestream or similar?
Would be interesting to see your work actually in progress It sometimes helps me or at least motivates me when seeing someone else working and seeing their discussed tactics in action.

Do you have other tips to correct mistakes other than mirror a picture? To me the mirror method doesn't work
