Description

Lilin waited by the wall's entrance, looking for a brown speckled male. She was told a brief description of him, and to show him where the nearest empire border was, so he could start getting a lay of the land the empire's had take up for themselves. Beady yellow eyes kept an eye out for the male, he must be new to the hunter program if he already didn't know where the empires were. But, Lilin figured it would be good for her too, to head out and train someone else on their jobs, instead of constantly fighting in the colosseum or training by herself. It'd be good to get out and talk to others.

So she waited, taking the time to relax a bit. She didn't remember the last time she just let herself relax, to just sit and wait. "I should probably do this more often..." She said with a sigh.

-Ugh! I'm late!- he thought to himself. Aarav was still new to town and got a little lost, again. He was only a couple minutes late, but late was late. He was going to be meeting up with another bounty hunter at the entrance of the wall. He knew he was looking for a light brown with darker brown spots or patches and something about her yellow eyes.

He walk along side the wall, soon finding the feline he was looking for, noticing she seemed a little relaxed. He just to say, heard what she had spoken, and taking a gamble at what she meant, replied. "You really should. Just taking a moment to just sit and be still can be both relaxing and rejuvenating." He hoped he hadn't startled her. "Also, my apologies for my tardiness. Still getting used to a larger city." He said looking up at her with a slight sheepish grin.

Lilin's eyes shot up at the new voice, her one good eye spotting the male she was looking for. She was startled to see him, but quickly settled herself into a respectable manner. "Indeed," She replied, agreeing with his sentiments, before continuing, "Not to worry. I assumed you were new, so it's all find in retrospect."

She stood up, readying herself, shifting her armor slightly to sit correctly along her form. "We'll be walking along the empire border nearest to the city. That'll be what's known as Shadow Empire. The borders are mostly unknown to us, but because Shadow is the closest, we have some information on how far away they are and what their scents are like," Lilin gave the newcomer some information on one of their enemies, knowing this may be important to him later on when he began capturing felines. "We'll try to not capture anyone today as it's just a training session, but if we do see anyone and they look like an easy capture, we might as well try," The speckled female added in, a small smile as she mentioned capturing someone easy. Oh how an easy capture would be great.

He had been more at ease as she was sitting, but as soon as she stood, he straightened his stance and stood at attention. He listened to every word, making sure to repeat them to himself so not to forget such vital information. He began to wonder, how likely was it to come across these empire cats, and how he might handle one depending on the situations. He wondered if he'd know the difference between an easy or hard capture, as he had been in fights before, but not with the intent of a captor. "That is true, no use in wasting a good opportunity, if one shall arise." He agreed with her. As for now, training and learning the environment in which he would later hunt, was more important than taking an unneeded risk. But he hadn't missed the small smile at mentioning an easy capture. Hopefully, if it did come down to it, he'd be able to play his part.

"May I ask, how long have you been training or as a hunter?" He asked politely. He wanted to get to know one of his co-workers better, as well as learning the most he could about his job. He didn't want to disappoint.

The young female was quite surprised, because well, she wasn't a full hunter long, as in fact, she was only recently promoted. Unsure of how this only male would respond to the idea of a younger feline showing him around. "I was only recently promoted to a full hunter last gathering, but I've been apart of the hunter program since birth," She replied, turning to walk, flicking her fluffy tail for him to follow along with her out of the city.

Lilin began walking into the farm land that took up a majority of the land directly outside of Massilia, spotting her own home far off into the distance. The trek to get back into the city for her work was a peaceful one, and was often spent as her relaxing time, however right now she had a teaching position for this older male.

Turning to follow, "Then you already have a few steps up on me. All I come with is a little age and the experience of being a personal guard." He replied, a friendly smile playing on his maw. He already respected her, not only had she found her place amongst the hunters and had been trained to be such at an earlier age, but she clearly wasn't inexperienced. Her scared eyed hadn't been unseen.

He followed her into the farm land around the city. Enjoying the view while also being on alert, after all, he was still on the job. And there was no way, he'd give reason for anyone to think of him as lazy. So even though he knew they weren't near the Shadow Empire's boarder, he watched, seeing what this younger female did, and hopefully learning from it.

"Thanks... In due time, I'm sure you'll be on the same level as me," She gave him a warm smile, warmth growing her cheeks having been complimented. He seemed like a pleasant fellow, so she hoped he stuck around and did indeed get as much experience as she had.

"So, just outside of the city, we have quite a bit of farm land. I myself live out here with a city cat," Lilin started, thinking she should perhaps give some insight about how the city is run whilst traveling. "City cat's aren't usually allowed past the walls, but they're allowed to live on these farms, hunters just need to keep an eye on them. I don't particularly know the rules around City cats, I just know we have a few rules about them leaving the city without telling anyone," She continued, thinking back to some news being tossed around of a city cat giving information to her empire cat sibling. She recalled hearing that chatter between hunters, up until she saw the tiger herself in the cages one night while guarding the prisoners.

"Our job is hard, but it can't be fun, we just need to keep our eyes peeled, because our life could be in danger if we don't pay attention to our surroundings. Though, i'm certain you know the feeling, having been a personal guard and all," As she walked, her voice became slightly serious, before turning back to him with a smile as she mentioned his previous job, "I think you'll do great here."

He hoped she was right, as he didn't want to be unworthy of this job. He enjoyed seeing the warm smile and gave one in return before he began listening on what she had to say next. Since he grew up in a small village, he wasn't aware of how city worked let alone the cats that lived there or the rules. So he listened intently, while keeping on his guard and constantly scanning the area. He began to wonder how dangerous these empires were for it not to be safe for the city cats to leave the city, at least without knowledge or supervision.

"I actually found I wasn't doing enough as a personal guard, and wanted to do and see more. I'm kind of hoping I find it here, as a Hunter. It's just another way of protecting humans and felines, which I've been doing for as long as I can remember. I also know the feeling from from my smaller stature. Not much views you as a threat when you're this small." He started of serious, and matter-of-factly, but finished chuckling a little at his own joke, only for the slight moment being louder then previously. He knew he was probably the smallest hunter in the program, there wasn't a point in being to serious about it, as it wasn't something anyone could change. "And thanks" he hoped he would, if she thought he would, then he didn't want to disappoint.

He figured he might as well ask a couple of question pertaining to the job, maybe slip another in to Lilin about herself. "So, how can you tell if a feline will be an easy or hard capture?" He asked looking her way briefly. "What happens to the cats we catch and bring to the city?" A question that had been on his mind after seeing some cats leave the cages with humans, while others gained new wounds. "Speaking of the city, what was it like, growing up here? Any must see places?" He asked while glancing at her from the corner of his eye. Checking to make sure he hadn't pushed too hard with the questions.

Even though she was younger and supposed to be his equal, he viewed her as a higher rank, having more experience than him, and being mature, from what he saw.

As the two walked, Lilin nodded to his words, listening while walking, not adding any comments aside from her usual nods and 'mhm's. Thick pine forest began taking over the landscape, as they approached Shadow Empire territory. This is when Aarav began asking her questions about the city. "Ah, you can generally tell if a capture is going to be easy or hard based on a cat's expression. There's been one i've had where there was this other young female, who looked rather inexperienced with fighting, and my friend and I easily took her back to the city. Basically, judging the size, and their actions before engaging is a good trait to have while out hunting to determine if they'd be easy to capture," She offered, hoping her explanation would be good for the older male to understand.

"As for those who get captured, they go to the cages off to the sides of the colosseum, and will be used in colosseum fights until they decide they want to join the city and begin their taming. If they don't decide to begin taming, they'll remain there forever. However, most escape within 6 months unfortunately. We really need better guards," Lilin explained, sighing as she explained a lot of their captures escape before taming can even begin.

"on your question of the city, I honestly don't go out anywhere all that often. I tend to train for long periods of the day and doing my usual rounds before going home," She admitted, noting that she really doesn't relax or take anytime for herself, becoming a workaholic.

Aarav had kept his eyes forward as she explained what to look for to tell if a feline was to be an easy capture. Nodding his head in understanding, as he took in his surroundings. This was the first time he had seen such strange trees, but having remembered that he'd heard someone describe and call them pine trees before.

He continued to listen, realizing he hadn't seen a Coliseum fight yet. He also began to wonder why so many cats would prefer to live out here rather than be tamed and enjoy the easy life of the city. He looked over at her as she sighed, it sounded like their job was a challenge and making progress with the empires was a slow process. He hoped he could help make a difference for the cause.

He watched her as she admitted to not having much free time to herself, keeping herself busy with work. He thought about it, and realized he could easily picture himself falling into a similar pattern, as he had with his previous job. "It sounds like you work really hard at your job." He stated. "Maybe sometime, if you feel like taking a break, we could watch a coliseum fight. Or we could maybe train together sometime. Most hunters seem wary of hurting me during training, and tend to go too slow or easy on me. You wouldn't go easy on me, would ya?" He finished with a smirk to his question, playfully showing just a sliver of his arrogance.

As they continued on he noticed the ground was feeling damper and squishier in some spots. The air had a damp coolness to it, and once again, he couldn't understand why any cat would want to live in a place like this.

She shot him a grin at his obvious challenge. "No, of course I wouldn't go easy on you," She wasn't about to let a challenge go that easily, especially when the young girl was trying to prove herself as a capable huntress. Lilin certainly was the type to take others up on their challenges, and would certainly not back down, no matter what. It was in her blood to keep getting up and keep fighting, even if it was her own mistake on taking up those challenges.

Lilin noticed Aarav was looking around, his eyes watching the trees, as if he'd never seen them before. He seemed to have never seen the outside world, which made her assume he'd always been a city cat, much like her friend Apophis. "We're drawing close," She commented, giving him a faint smile, taking note he was in a new place and he'd certainly need to get used to it. "Just up ahead Shadow's border begins," She looked forward, yellow eye looking around wearily, keeping an eye out for a potential Shadow patrol.

"Since this is just a walk around, I'm not going to go too close to the border, since, I notice you're brand new to this kind of landscape," Lilin looked back towards him, suddenly stopping in her tracks, knowing if they walked more they may be walking into trouble if a patrol was walking by.

Aarav's grin grew as she accepted his challenge. Grateful to have found at least one feline he could spar with to keep his tactics and skills sharp. He always new he was at a disadvantage compared to others due to his small size, so he felt the need to compensate that with well sharpened skills.

He tilted his head toward her, while still being on high alert. He didn't, and wasn't going to miss a thing. He knew that the empires patrolled their borders, and if they were near them, that had to keep an eye out for a patrol. Though it almost intrigued him to be so close to enemy territory.

"I guess that's reasonable." He stated, as he stopped beside her. He may not have shown it, but he had been a little disappointed. He knew it was true, that it was better to keep their distance since he was new to this kind of landscape, but it still hurt his ego a little.

"All in due time Aarav," Lilin chuckled, giving him a sympathetic smile, understanding a want to get out and hop straight into the job. But luckily for him, today may actually be the day he got his first capture on the job, much to the younger female's dismay, wanting the day to be but a simple training day where she showed him the ropes. But fate had different plans. Paw steps just beyond the border came into earshot, causing her ears to flick towards the noise immediately, before turning back to Aarav in order to tell the male to find an area to hide, so the two could stay out of sight and assess the situation.

"Get into a bush, someone is coming," She quickly hissed towards the male, moving herself into some foliage to hide herself into. "Lets see what we've got...." She muttered to herself, yellow beady eyes flicking from Aarav towards where the noises were coming from.

He gave a lopsided grin knowing she had seen his hurt pride. He did understand why, as it would be best if he learnt slower than being thrown into the job, though je wouldn't mind if he were.

It barely took him a moment to stiffen and and perk his ears. He heard it. The pawsteps. He watched for a moment in the direction of which they came, before looking to Lilin. He watched her moves insentiently as he kept his ears towards the pawsteps.

As soon as he heard the command, he was in the nearest bush or foliage he could find. He found advantage in his small size, finding it easier to find places to hide. It also meant he was harder to find, especially when he was crouched as low as he was.

As Aarav was hidden, he kept looking between Lilin and the paw steps. Was it someone they could capture or not, and was it someone who could make both their days a living hell? He figured the paw steps weren't large enough to be of a much bigger feline, but just like every feline, they were bigger than he. So he waited to see what kind of plan Lilin would show, as she did have more experience, and he could admit that she was wise beyond her years.

A golden eye peered out, a face soon emerging to match that of whom had been walking not too far from them. "Aarav... They look small enough..." She whispered to the smaller male, "I can distract them while you get the drop on them. Try sneaking around the back of them, I can intimidate them and scare them while you move into position..."

Lilin tore her one good eye away from the small orange feline that'd revealed itself to her, and laid her sight on Aarav. Unfortunately now was the time to prove himself. A capture happened upon them, and it was certainly one they could take down together.

From his hiding spot, he heard Lilin whisper to him. As she spoke her plan, he watched the feline and thought it over, going through the options in his own mind, confirming her plan would be wisest. Aarav, looked over at her, and gave her a nod in understanding.

As Lilin stepped out to do her part, Aarav started to silently creep to where he could stalk towards the feline with the least amount of noise possible. It wasn't perfectly behind them, but it was were they wouldn't see him coming.

This adventure wasn't supposed to lead to a capture, but would would do his best to earn his place among the hunters. It also made him a little proud that his first outing lead to a capture, and with the certainty that was on Lilin's face, told him that this was the perfect sinario that he could have asked for.
