If Helga hadn't been teased by Harold when they were in Pre-School and her affections for Arnold weren't almost exposed, would she have tried to be friends with him?This picture was something I did last night and colored today. I thought it would have been cute to see the two together as little kids. Arnold's being himself, Helga's just touched he's being nice to her still. ^_^

Aw, cute. If only she hadn't swooned in that moment she'd have developed a considerably different personality. That scene is really telling of what Helga is really like, since she initially responds to Harold by crying, but it isn't until he and the rest of the kids mock her for showing interest in Arnold that she adopts her kill or be killed philosophy, so her whole bully persona arises as a survival tactic since she's fundamentally terrified of rejection thanks to her family. Sure, it would've been nice if things turned out like in your picture but... let's be honest, would a nice Helga be as fun to watch? Still, love it.

I always thought on that episode as the "perfect" one - I mean, it even gives the cute look of the known characters as little kids - of course, without falling in that clΓched version of the "little kids" versions; it was in the just measure.
