Description
Edit: 2/21/10 Hey guys, I want to thank you all and the deviantArt staff for selecting this for a Daily Deviation! As much an honor this is, and as grateful I am to =drop-asd for suggesting it, I also want to ensure that an equal amount of credit (if not more) is warranted to my main man, *windriderx23 !If you guys like this image, feel free to check out *windriderx23 's gallery for more collaborative efforts like this. He's also the guy who sells prints of our work, and displays the higher resolution versions. Here's some more examples of collaborative efforts he masterminded.
Please go give him some lovin' for keeping his mind open to collaborative endeavors. It was this mentality that allowed me to work extensively on his stuff, and being able to develop a compatible style with his own that has gotten us the recognition we've garnered. His eagerness to network is what got us selected to participate in the charity auction for the Make A Wish Foundation, and what created this image in the first place.
Jamie, you totally called it. You were totally right. We rock, dude. Indeed, we totally rock.

My third image in the 8-piece collage for the Make A Wish Foundation charity piece.
This is also the second image done entirety (start to finish) in my live feed. We seem to be getting the latency issues down, resulting in less black-outs and more time being able to see the image as it's being done. Still, there were many people who came by, and provided some social ambiance. Tonight's topics include photography, large scary Jamaican teachers, Wacom tablets, the lethal beer/Chinese food combination, carpal tunnel, Metallica, and most popular, creating your best drawing ever while doing business in a public restroom. That's you, Roman.
This is a presentation draft, and could face some changes, so this isn't finalized yet. Just uploading it so those of you who watched the stream could finally see the image in a bit of a higher resolution.

It's a awesome piece of art ! The work on the color give a such depth to the picture. It's like some 3D effect on some DVD collector or 3D BR but on a flat screen.
I'm really stunning by this effect !

I love the fire. Color Dodge layers are great for this kind of stuff.

Oh man you're telling me. I don't use the blending effects with my layers, I usually apply it to my brushes. The fire on this one was actually a combination of linear dodge brushes, then multiply brushes over it (to reduce the white 'blow out' and make a more gradual glow), and then some color dodge brush strokes to wrap it all together.
Thanks for the compliments!

Hey, no prob.
Try this sometime. You might find it's easier.
Make a color dodge layer and fill it in with black. Be sure to be in ROB mode. Then use white to add the bloom and black to take it away.
I find this to be very flexable and easy to change the amount of glow I want, all in one layer.

I just tried that on the last image I submitted, particularly around the whites and the middle section, and ya know, I really like your approach. Instead of using white, though, I started with a midtone green, then a bright saturated cyan where it would be more intense. Since it works well when using different colors, it gives me a lot more flexibility for adjusting the color and brightness of that bloom effect, so thanks for the suggestion, it worked out brilliantly!

No problem. I'm glad you dig it. Yeah, after you fill the layer in with black, you can experiment with other light colors instead of white for cool results.
