Description
The "hill section" (as they call it) of Manhattan Beach is one of the more unique parts of the town. Now, when I say unique, I use the term pretty loosely. I would be willing to bet that the MB Transportation Department had a surplus of stopsigns, and I can very easily imagine the mayor saying "oh just plant them all willy nilly in the hill section. Those rich twerps need something to preoccupy them."So this is a neighborhood where everybody maxes out their lots, and builds their houses upwards until they reach the legal height. They build upward until the nearest inch of regulated height. But with good reason. If the selfish dipwad just east of you decided to add a fifth story to their abode, then you'd better get a sixth put on so that arrogant mouth breather doesn't take away your sunset.
It's quite a competetive town. Imagine if you will a Justin Timberlake concert, and all the adolescent screeching girls are piling to the front of the stage. They're all jumping up and down, trying to look over the heads of those in front of them. The houses in the hill section are just like that. If you were to place a camera at the foot of the hill section, and set it so that a frame was taken every week, it would look just like a bunch of girls jumping to see Justin Timberlake.
Well, this is an example of Justin...err...a sunset as seen from the hill section.

I just like silhouettes of dark trees and other interesting things in front of lovely sunset colors.

One thing I openly admit to doing is pulling colors out of my original photographs via Photoshop. I made a piece that compares the original photo, and then shows what it looks like after it's modified, then a split screen showing a very clear difference. This comparison is in my scraps, and can be found here: [link]
