This is really well-done. I love the shading, and the way you drew the hair so it was partially covering the face. It makes it more realistic.

I tried a similar hairstyle on one of my pictures once, except I can't draw that well so it really didn't come out.

As I saw from your gallery, yes you are more of a writer. (Still haven't gotten a chance to really look through that. Perhaps later in the weekend.) That doesn't mean you can't also draw, however. I tend to lean more towards drawing things, but I also enjoy writing and music. (Though it's far easier for me to write than draw or play). Don't let your specialty hold you back from doing other things, by all means.

Well, I am in a major writer's block right now. But in terms of drawing, I can only really draw animals. And even then they all kind of look the same.

Indeed. I know I've improved quite alot over the past few years (only been seriously drawing since the end of 8th grade. Come to think of it though, that's 2 and half years now.) Just keep trying.

My friend, who's a really good artist, was trying to teach me a couple of days ago. It wasn't working out so well. I tried to copy this picture of a puppy she had on her folder, and I could get the face okay but the body was not that good.

I think the upper side looks great, again, I really like the hair. Though, I can't help to see something odd in the bottom, there's just a little problem with her proportion, I think maybe her belly is too long, probably her legs should start at the first folding. Yet, if she's wearing a dress, maybe it would help if you just add a little detail there to make the beginning of the legs a bit more noticeable.

Hm... ok. that makes sense. I'm not the best at proportion, so it makes sense that I'd mess that up if anything. I'm working on it, though, and comments like yours help.

I have problems myself on proportions, so I've developed an strong obsession to catch those details hehe, but I'm glad you find my comment useful, my intention is always to help if I can.

There is not lot of attractive details in a black anc white picture... I guess there are only 2 important things which make a good white and black pic: Details first, then a impressive shading...
Keep training on that two points and you'll draw impressive pics!
