It's good that you're practicing realism, but the girl needs some lips unless they're painfully thin like an elder.

Not bad I think! I guess like you said, more shadows, but also more "something" with the hair, will make this pic look better...
By "something" I mean it looks a bit too flat, but it is my humble point of view

nice! you got the contstruction lines very well & the expression on the subject really comes out; i think that's the strenght of this piece..as for suggestions, i think you should do more variations w/ the shading. shadows or lighting in general will do wonders in making an art work look realistic
