Description 2 hour speed painting.

Scene from “5 Centimeters per Second”.

When I started this little project, I did not intend to put any characters in the scenery; however, the impact of this just wouldn’t be the same without them.

awesome!
you use brushstrokes and colour in a nice way, so that the image has a loose and real feel to it.
and I love that you use solid colours, it shows that you have an eye for choosing and placing them properly

and I agree that the figures are needed in these scenes~ it gives more depth and scale, and has such a great impact

reminds me of 'The Place Promised in our Early Days'

Thank you!

I'm fizzy on the movie, but I think that "The Promised Place" was in "Beyond the Clouds" which isn't at all surprising because it was from the same director. Regardless, his art was astounding and made for great painting exercises!

I love the style you drew this in, and the two pictures together look great. I espically like the grass in the bottom one.

And you're right. The distance you brought to your piece was explicit when you introduced the two characters. The positions of their bodies on the canvas was important too. Even the clouds look like they long for friends. They move toward the direction that the characters are facing.

Just like I want to fave them all.

Vee, I want to fav them all ;_;
But I think I like this one the most up till now. The piece looks peacefull and dreamy, something I like to see in a painting. Did it take you two hours for each panel, or two hours in total? In any case I admire your speedpaint skills man. You get better with the minute!! Where do you find the time and energy to make all of them? XD

XD Thanks, Phee.
Two hours in total, so roughly an hour on each panel? I don't keep track of those things.
Thank you! I intend to master the art of speed painting by the end of next year. That shall be my new years resolution!
Generally, they don't take long so I do it before I go to bed or when I wake up as little painting exercises.
