Description
Done with the sole intention of an excuse to do a rant...and here it is.Why the hate? She's no Justin Bieber here, She isnt hurting people, or spitting on her fanbase or doing anything that warrants the amount of hate she receives, so why waste your time and energy on bagging out someone you have 100% power over. Face the facts here, Its up to the individual how much attention one pays to this woman, So you are ultimately responsible for how annoyed you get at her.
So lets look at it, what has she really done? Other than be young and stupid, which everyone is.
I dont particularly like Miley, I dont like her music and I dont think shes the most talented popstar on the market at the moment(who is though?), but when I look at her, what I see is a young woman breaking out of a life where she was protected and fed what to do and what to say and who is now exploring what the world has to offer, getting a bit wild and having a good time, and I bet if you where in her position, you'd be doing the same thing.
I find the criticism irrational, She's not doing anything that others before her havnt done, Over sexualizing oneself to garner media attention/controversy has proven time and time again a surefire way to sell records.
Keeping it as short as possible so people bother reading things, If you dont like something or someone and you have absolute control over what you expose yourself too, why use your time and energy bitching on someone who has done nothing to hurt anyone? Untill she does, I think everybody needs to sit back and have a long look at themselves and their behavior.

Very nice rendition. Also, very liberal evaluation of a person depending on "grabbing media attention" to advance her career; and, as you say, is doing nothing that previous "stars" have not done in one fashion or another. Well done.

Yes, I did. But We dont have any context. Who where the two Asian men she was with? Where they friends? Fans? We dont know.
Was it insensitive? Absolutely, especially because we dont have any context, but was it meant to have malicious intent? I highly doubt it.

Yeah, I agree. Madonna did the same thing, oversexualizing herself, and people treat her with respect.

As much as I hate her music and as much as I think this whole "twerking" thing she was doing, was just her slutting it up on stage. I still think people need to back off. She's 20 now, I think, she's too old for Disney to keep her as an idea, for under aged girls to live up to. She's now allowed to show off her boobs and her butt, why people are going berserk about all of this makes no sense. We shouldn't hate her because she's gotten older, we should hate her for making crappy songs (despite having how many writers to make a song for her?) and the fact she'll release it and make more money from it, in a week, than we will ever see in our lifetime.

Agreed on point one. First I heard of the "wrecking ball" thing was bound up in parody. Still haven't even heard the song, which I find funny. I hear more about her controversy than her actual music. The curse of public visibility, I suppose. And that we live in the Age of Visibility, thanks to internet and all the media power that comes with it.

I still to this day have not heard Wrecking Ball in its entirety...But Ron Jeremy's version was particularly beautiful.

Me neither, not actively anyway. Possible it was going on in a grocery store or something. All I know is that she rides a wrecking ball and some dude in a diaper did the same thing to that tune and it was hilarious.

Not that I intend to use Vexedzero's page for rants or anything like that, Jade owl, but Zero posed a few points about Miley and I simply responded. My point is simply that the reason for the general public's hate towards celebrities like her can basically be summarized like this: working people struggling to make it find rich and famous celebrities' ridiculous public antics offensive, especially when those celebrities are perceived as untalented or marginally talented. There is a public perception, and rightfully so in my opinion, that if you got little or no talent, you should be thankful for your celebrity and financial success, and stop acting like a fool in public. That's basically all I'm saying. So no need to get worked up. I think my comments were rather benign.

Your comments remind me of something that I've always found puzzling about people and stuff they don't like. Why do you they fell the need to publicize their dislike for it? Don't they realize they're just giving it more publicity?
It's not like she's a politician that needs to be voted out of office, or an evil/incompetent employee that you need to campaign to get fired, or a criminal that might get away with it.
She's a celebrity. An entertainer. She's not going to get fired for fuck's sake! Going on and on about how much you hate her only gives her more publicity! If was she does annoys/upsets them so much, they should keep their mouths shut and change the freaking channel.
Arrrggghh! Sorry for the rant.

So when someone with a regular job who is struggling to make a living sees a marginally talented singer like Justin Bieber or Miley or Britany Spears a few years ago find success and then act like a fool in public, the average person looks upon that as offensive.
Even more offensive are some of these idiots who are rich and famous despite doing nothing creative such as the Kardashians or Paris Hilton.

In response too both comments; Life is not, nor ever will be, fair.
So make the best out of what you have and live without spending your time and energy hating something that cannot be changed.
Its like people look at celebrities and then forget that regular people do worse everyday.
What I've seen Miley do hasnt offended me at all, but people get offended by different things.
The shit I've seen kids doing in my small part of Australia trounces anything Miley(or any other generic popstar) does. Thats just how life is.
I just reckon we hate on celebs to make ourselves feel better.
For the record...I fuckin dislike the Kardashians haha

From my perspective I understand what you're saying and you raise some valid points.
However with a lot of these marginal celebrities these days, the main reason for the hate stems from their meteoric rise to fame and fortune despite their lack of talent.
Say what you want about artists from the past but people like Madonna and Michael Jackson for example despite their problems were respected because they were good artists.
