"Well I" he tried to collect his thoughts, "I mean I was just a young kitten back then, I barely remember anything after the fall from the top of New age" he mewed holding his forehead, "but it is true though, I know their are sick and injured out their, but am I a hundred percent sure, no"
Damien looked down with discouragement, Damien spoke, "But surely remember something about the Underground city, at least tell us about her. What do you see in this?" he points at Sabine, "is it true that their are innocent lives in danger out their?"
Continuing to stand she leaned against the rails of where she was seated at the beginning, staring at the brute known as Truce. Eyes wide as if saying 'Come on you remember me!", as her tailed tightened it's grip on her chair awaiting his response. 'Oh come on! You know you know me!' she screamed within herself, as her claws dug deep into the varnish. Peeling some away from the original making.
Truss Crossed his arms, "hmmm I dont know" he mewed, looking at her, "but as an adventurer, I do believe in this person's word if their are a group of hungry thieves after treasure, they must be trading it off to someone higher" he mewed, "and for that I have heard murder cases, violent activity and all from the group of the Fang thieves" he stares at her, "What I see is a Very dangerous woman who knows fighting skills that could match our own" Damien looks at him in shock, "it took everything I had to catch her, and if she is that strong to get away then their will be more of them, possibly alot tougher, maybe even smarter, highly educated leaders of their own groups" he looked to the side, "which is my reason we need people like her to aid us in such delimas, she grew up in the streets of the underground, she can support us with proper intel of the battlefield if required. She will be a good field specialist if she was a guard traveling through her own territory" he mewed.
Eyes opening wide she fell back in her chair half heartedly conscious for both facts given.......
Mumers spread around, agreements and disagreements as Marcus hits the hammer, "order in the court" he called as the crowd went silent and Charlie looked through his notes, his mind in a lock.
Damien sigh as he rolled with it, "exactly my point, think about it people, a representative of the underground bearing our symbol, a ranked officer" he mewed to the crowd, "this is a rare opportunity for us to not only give her a second chance and rot in jail for her life or worse, but to turn her path to something good and give the poor fellows from the underground a meaning that we are for the good of our kind and will help" he said proudly, "I rest my case" he walks back as Marcus order truss to go back and sit down with the Jury.
Charlie coughs as he gets up, "well Ill...have to admit that was an astounding speech" he mewed holding a napkin and drying his palms with sweat, "seeing as how "promising" this girl is, one problem still lies in all this?" he looks at Marcus, "this whole delima was cause by just one girl, and if say she was a Guard, how do you know if she would agree to the oath?" he looks back, "dont tell me your curious if she would go turn coat, a spy for the corps, its a dangerous and risky idea" he looks back, "Marcus reconsider, I have two sons, one Daughter, and ten grandchildren , Ive walked these tunnels for seventeen years and the last thing I want is to put them in jeopardy" he coughed holding up his napkin. "they are my treasure and I would never forgive myself if I was the decider of their faith in this child's hands" he points at Sabine.
Marcus closes his eyes and places his hands together, "what would you propose then, we just kill a child to save hundreds?" he mewed at him, "I understand your concern, but their are possibly hundred, maybe a thousand things to worry about more than this girl, You and I know the truth in that, he said in a stern voice.
"Pfft you see me as a flea infected, piece of left over carcass." she bluntly stayed spitting some at Charlie. "Get your facts straight, not all theives are so inconsiderate and revolt against ones who truly cared to lend a paw." she huffed releasing her claws from the varnish. "Excuse me for speaking out sir, Marcus." she gently purred knowing the old cat was considerable, and kind. Her tail still swaying looking for her dagger, for some reason the thought carried in her mind to prove a point.
Damien pulled up her cuffs as she yelp, "be quiet" he hissed at her ear as the hammer bailed, Marcus looks up and correct his lenses, "alright meeting is a close the Jury will be placed in the judging hall and will continue after a five minutes (if it takes that long that is)
Everyone rose as Damien pulled her up, "come on were heading for the room next door" he asked her kindly
"Fine.." she sighed realizing she had just turned her chances into more of a debatable fate. Tail dragging behind her as she followed the brute. Questioning his antics some, but awaiting their arrival in the room.
They both sat down as Damien crossed his arms looking over at Charlie as he talks to the other people in the crowd, "the moment of truth" he mewed give off a deep breath, "man that was exhausting, I hate being the Defendant, this stuff is hard work!" he hissed at himself as he looks at Sabine, "how are you holding up?" he mewed
"I'm hanging in there I guess. But if I had my chance Charlie would be gone." she growled glaring a bit behind Damien to see the ill concieved. "Now a question for you." she purred some prying all knowledge in her mind into a formal way of saying this sentence. For her mind was becoming fogged.
Damine kept his arms crosses as he looked over" what is it?, last I checked your the one being questioned" he med wagging his tail in fustration.
"Is there anyway I can get out of these cuffs, wear my cloak, and hold my daggers in a questioning with Truss? I know him from my kithood, I swear!" she leaned forward whispering some of this into his ear so all wouldn't know. "I have a feeling it might spark something before whatever my fate will come to." she sighed hanging her head some.
Damien gave in a hiss and stood up, "do you think im mental, to hell with that idea, first of all I would get hanged over my tail if I even thought about letting you go troll off somewhere and second I dont even have the Key, marcus does" he keeps a hand on his sword, "look Sabine, the Jury is about to be done, just hold up and everything will be done shortly" then it struck him, "wait what DO you now about Truss, I was the one that Grew up with him" he mewed with a hint of anger, "I knew him much more than you, my mentor was the one that saved him from the fall from the sky"
"I knew Truss from my kithood." she sighed. "He was such a scoundrel, and I so fiesty. We would always play around with The Fang Gang, and try to keep them away from certain cats we knew living round where they were." she lightly chuckled. "He had his toys he made. I a semi-beginner in close combat, armed with my special daggers." she lightly smiled. "He never met up with me at our meeting place to go adventuring." her ears drooped in sorrow. "I thought he had either been killed, found by the gang, or caught by one of your cats. I never knew he was alive until now." she went silent for a moment. "But now it hurts me to see that he doesn't remember me or what I was in his past life." a single tear fell from her left cheek, as her tail wrapped around her ankle in a comforting sort of way.
Damien ears dropped from it as he pulls out a cloth, "well right now you need to get out of this mess, I cannot break the law, I gave an oath" he mewed hearing the call from the Embassy court room, "I dont know about Truss before hand, but now is not his battle, this is yours. We will talk about this later after your hearing" he mewed, "Sabine...if it makes you at ease, I think it would be great if you became an addition to the New Age cats" he mewed picking her cuffs up and lifting her hands to put her in a hold, "this court is almost over alright" he told her, "just stand firm and strong, even if its the wrong direction"
Silently she nodded, barely swiping her eyes on the cloth before getting up. Head hung, as he led her back in for her hearing. "Nothing's a wrong way unless you choose to kill in cold blood.." she hushly spoke as her ears fell forward as if they were limp. She told herself stand strong, don't let your weakening body show. She began to stand straight head held high as her right ear remained folded as if over her scared eye. Sabine's legs had ached, as they began to tighten up and trip up as they continued walking.
Charlie, Marcus, and Damien stood together talking with each other as they passed on information from the Jury, then they all left to their seats, "I believe we have reach to a virdic" Marcus mewed as Charlie looked at her with a grunt, "as Charlie subscribed if we left her go as she please she will likely cause more trouble, "he mewed and looked at Damine, "as Damien suggest that he be a part of New age as a guard to attone to her crimes" he leaned down with a smile.
"Now the charges will be made" he mewed pulling out the paper as the Jury all stood
Nervous she clawed the inside of her paws accidently, leaving small scrapes. 'Please don't leave me to die! PLEASE don't...' she trailed off coming herself. Realizing that two of these cats were reasonable: Marcus, and Damien.
-calming
The jury listed the paper, "upon the multiple charges listed, attoned to the suspicion of attempted assassination, not guilty" he mewed, "the legitimate felony of stealing a relic from the embassy, guilty of minimal charges" he continued flipping a page, "assault against a Officer of the guard, guilty" he mewed holding the papers down, "all other charges have been sustained and cleared as not guilty" he mewed as the Mayor nodded thinking a bit
A bit confused on this, her legs began to buckle, as her mind started to fog. "Please hurry.." she whisperly groaned to Damien. "I-I can't last much longer." her voice trembled as she tried using her tail to latch onto something to keep her from falling any direction. "I.. I.. d-" she stopped her sentence as she tried her best to keep conscious and not to fall.
"Very well then, Ms. Sabine Traonce you have a choice" he ordered, "execution or expulsion to the outer border of our charts, or" he paused, "Remain in prison, maybe 2 days, Until you are given as a tested Guard, given your promise to prove to get your people back and gain the trust of New age as a full registered citizen of New age" he mewed
Damien shrugged, he spoke, "it was the best I could do" he mewed.
"the choice is yours, get your people here in agreement to get registered here or the other"
Nodding she tried her best to respond, " I rather not die, or be left to die in places unknown. I guess I;m left joining you species. I can not promise every cat I know from the outside with come to agreement with this, but I give you my word I will do my best to get them out of the refugee." she meowed bowing her head trying to keep herself upright. 'Don't loose yourself yet!' she screamed to within herself.
Mayor rammed the hammer, "very well, Truss will be joining you in the journey to the Underground city" he mewed
Charlie looks over and point his finger at her, "lets set something straight though, IF he does not come back within 3 days time, a bounty will be set for your head, a Big one" he said, giving a cough, "I hope you are worth it... I literally pray, not for your sake, but for my citizens" he mewed, limping away pulling out his watch to check the time.
Finally deciding she couldn't hold out long enough, Sabine's body collapsed. Tail releasing the thing it was grasping, as her eyelids fell upon her cheeks. "I held out." she smiled some as some dehydration and starvation had finally gotten to her. "Mind helping me up?" she swore she spoke these words but was completely unsure if so. Now what would happen now her mind raced as she tried to regrasp her path, and get up.
Damien sighed in relief as he pats her on the back, "alright were heading back for the cage, dont worry you'll be better treated this time, food too" he mewed holding her up, "also a stretch bed this time from the armory" he mewed having her in a hold, "This more like a probation till we are set" he mewed as they ran into Truss, damien suddenly feeling awkward from what he heard between her and him, "hey...buddy" he said as he held her.
Truss crossed his arms, "well I guess we will be seeing each other soon" he mewed looking at her with a cold stare.
Frazzled in confusion she nodded. "thanks Damien." she smiled finally feeling accepted, and as if she had started a new chapter in her life.
The end
