A plucky little ghost who inhabits dark houses or caves and thrills at scaring the pants off of people. Boos are known for being very shy and while hide their face if their spook victim looks their way. Boos can also carry objects or coins within their bodies, which Mario needs or wants. Boos hate light and disappear instantly if toughed by a shine. Among Boos, there are the Big Boo, and their master, the King Boo. Some Boos can morph together to form a large Boo.

Boos appear in the Super Smash Bros. series in the background of the Luigi's Mansion stage, floating about when parts of the stage crumble.
