Description
Pokemon by Nintendo, GAME FREAK, Creatures Inc. & Satoshi Tajiri
First Appearance: Pokemon Red / Blue Version (Game Boy 1997)

Voice: Shin-ichiro Miki ; Kiyotaka Furushima ; Kensuke Sato ; Kenta Miyake

Voice: Edward Bosco

A Flame Pokemon, and the final evolutionary stage of Charmander. Because of the wings it has grown upon evolution, Charizard can fly and use many Flying-type abilities, its wings able to carry it close to an altitude of 4,600 feet. Its fire is incredibly hot, enough to melt boulders, even. Charizard loves to battle with other PokΓ©mon and spends a great amount of time training or looking for opponents. Its competitive spirit is also noteworthy, since it will never spit flames or attack in any manner a weaker foe unless provoked or commanded. Like its fellow Kanto Starter Pokemon, Charizard is able to Mega Evolve and Gigantamax. In the case of the former, it has two forms; Mega Charizard X and Y, and in the latter case, it uses the signature move, G-Max Wildfire.

Charizard appears from the Poke Ball in Super Smash Bros. [64] and Super Smash Bros. Melee, and uses Flamethrower, burning nearby surrounding opponents.

Charizard is a Fighter in Pokken Tournament (DX).

Charizard is playable in Pokemon Unite, evolving from Charmander and Charmeleon.

Charizard is a Pokemon that Ash caught in the Kanto region on his 25-year Journey, having caught it as a Charmander, and briefly sent it away for training.

My favorite Pokemon in all of his unified glory. Although I did enjoy it as a solo unit in Smash 4 since it felt like an evolution of his role in Smash Bros. But I'm still happy that it reunited with Red, Squirtle and Ivysaur.

I'm gad we got Pokemon Trainer back, too. Charizard worked fine on his own in Smash 4, but for the "Everyone is Here" tagline, it made sense for him to return to his old team.

Indeed. Although I'm glad he kept Flare Blitz.

I love this pokemon. He may be overrated in the games like Pikachu (who is a Glass Cannon with the Light Ball) but I'll use him no matter what!

I personally don't think of either as overrated, but whatever.

Me neither but there are many who consider them overrated b/c of their typing and stats in the games and their popularity in the anime.Β I don't care if they suck, they can hit hard if used right IMO. But what do I know? I'm just a casual player and I'm not into Pokemon Tournaments.

I just play through, and occasionally battle with friends. I'm not super competitive or anything like that.

Same here. I used to be competitive with my bro back in Gen 2 but he stopped playing Pokemon until Gen 5 and then lost interest. But yeah, I just play through as well as train my Pokemon to Lv 50 for a possible "Pokemon Stadium" or "PokemonΒ Battle Revolution"Β game in the future.

Wonder if they'll have Mega Charizard Y?

VGAfanatic In reply to KZN02 [2014-04-15 13:24:51 +0000 UTC]

Probably not, since Mega Charizard X is the favored one.

I was initially going to split up the Pokemon Trainer and his Pokemon following the Smash Bros. Direct, but after some thought and consideration, I've decided that this Charizard is the Super Smash Bros. 4 standalone equivalent, while the other one is a part of the Pokemon Trainer for Brawl.
