Description
viant-t.deviantart.com/art/Canβ¦Yep, after months of doing it in bits and pieces and waiting for my hand to stop being a bitch (still is, but now at a tolerable level) I present you folks with the image of pain, suffering, and despair of seeing a majestic creature fall to the side of darkness.
I could imagine it showing up in Dark souls, as a beast in a locked away room, ment to be entertainment to guests, and slowly forgotten and neglected as it stayed chained up in damp gloom.Β
The majority is made of clay and wire, including the base for the wing arms, and the wings themselves out of poster paper. Each feather tediously drawn, cut and glued. Not planning on doing that again.
And here it'll stay white unless I figure out a color scheme and design that fits it. (or if someone volunteers ideas)
Measures 8 inches nose to wingtip, 6 inches nose to butt.
Sculpty Clay, wire, paper. Unpainted.

Very beautiful sculpture! I love the anatomy of the creature, looks great at every angle, and the amount of textures you have added, like the fur. The process of drawing and cut-and-pasting the feathers must've been very time-consuming, but the result is really nice!

I want to make another, it was really interesting to sculpt the skeleton directly onto the wire skeleton. Oh and I got it painted.

Sad and intimidating at the same time. Does it have eyes? Making it eyeless ups the creep factor. I like it.Β

Very very impressive. One can see the hours you must have spend on this.

It was fun though to really get a chance to work with a skeleton instead of muscle tone. Though I wish I knew how to make it look a bit more fleshy.Β

omg I love this. I quite enjoy it white. I mean, if you went in with any color, I'd go skin color very lightly just to add tone. Not on the whole body. Just like having it lightly on the tummy so something.

That might work. Might help if I looked for some dust paint too.

It reminds me of one of Mercedes Lackey's Makaar

I wont lie, I specifically looked at the picture in the novel of Makaar cause it was the only defining picture I knew of, where a gryphon didnt have a clean eagle face.Β

Well, I loved the Makaar design, and I love your take on the idea. It's haunting and gorgeous and the kind of sculpture I wish I could do. Excellent job!

Absolutely stunning! I'd love to see more of these!
Also personally, I feel white suits him very well! Though you might want to even out the white between the wings and the body!Β

Oh man, that's a difficult question because i'd almost certainly suggest more avian like creatures, and you're already providing a lot of bird in this.Β
Perhaps try something more reptilian? Built low to the ground and whatnot? Maybe even serpent like?Β

Yea a wash of white would work, but I was also waiting to see what folks had in mind incase I should do a black wash instead.Β

What if you gave it like a magpie or dove-like scheme? a bleeding heart dove would be super eerie might be cool

Magpies are pretty, but I think a little small and too clean design for him. Bleeding hearts are awesome for gore, but dont think itd do well on this guy with his small chest. Good ideas though
