I work in a stained glass shop and I took a 20"7/16 x 20"7/16 x 1/4" sheet of bronze tint glass and used a method called sand blast carving or "etching". Basically I shot an air gun that propels fine grains of sand at it and embeded an image of the Disturbed symbol from their second album, "Believe", onto the surface of the glass and creating lines that penetrate about 1/8" into the glass. There is also a method of sand blasting called gradiant which shows layers of light and dark on the glass, but it doesn't leave an indentation. This took about 1 hour to prepare by taking an inlarged image and adhering it to a layer of masking tape put on the surface of the glass. Then I took an exacto knife and cut out the image and peeled away the tape where I wanted it to be sand blasted. The carving portion took another 2 hours and finally about 1/2 hour to clean. It is now the top to a night stand in my room.
