I'm not really in the best mood today, so I shall make this as quick as possible.Sketch of Rufus ShinRa, scanned and coloured in Open Canvas 3.0 Used a reference for that angle, though the pose was referred from one that was in my brain (okay, an action figure helped me too). It's bitchin' hard to find overhead shots
Managed to snag a ShinRa logo for the little logolet in the corner...I purposely left out the "ShinRa Electric Power Company" bit on the logo Rufus is standing on because it just didn't look good, so I nixed it. Or I'm lazy; you decide. What you're looking at here is a "cover" to this project, as if it were a cover to an artbook (I may add more text to it later...I dunno. DEFINITELY going to make a few fixes to it) So yes, there will be fan art of Rufus ShinRa and the Turks, and if y'all are nice, I'll throw in Sephiroth too (since he was in ShinRa...). I dunno. Depends on my mood...
So yeah. Rather proud of this piece, though I rather hate my artwork right now.

Whoa... I was looking for Rufus pictures on dA and nearly fainted when I saw yours. It's not only that it's very good, it's also very similar to a piece I did a short while ago! Yours is better, though. I love the detail on the gun, and the realism of the piece. Mine is very anime-styled.

I just found out they re-instated Search, and yours was one of the first to show up.
I'm a fan of Rufus Shinra myself, a shame I haven't made more stuff with him.
Anyway, I really like how he's looking back kinda evil with a grin, and having him
stand on the logo is nice touch.

Shadi, I'm always finding old (incredible) stuff by you. Just.... *faints* His coattails were what caught my eye... they give such a dramatic effect. And I LOVE his pose!! You just simply rock at foreshortening and perspective. And then there's his stare... this picture epitomizes "lethal prettyboy" if I ever saw it. ^____^
This is a fairly old picture, so I'm hoping you don't hate your art anymore. It's one thing to recognize that you can and will improve, and quite another to beat yourself into the ground over a few things in your art that bother you. I hope you realize you're an inspiration to a lot of people.

Dude! THat's very cool. It's good that you went to the effort to use references to get the perspective/proportion right. Some naive people would say that's cheating but i say the end result is what counts- however you get there. The pose and composition/angle are tops, as is his `attitude`. THe double barreled shotgun is sweet too.

This is really good. You shouldn't hate you work. Your so good at art. My art doesn't even compare to yours. You take your time on the drawing and the coloring. I just rush thru it most of the time.

There is simple eye candy...and there is the fabulous, and this certainly falls into the latter category.
I'll leave Rufus' animal and sophiscated attractiveness for other more dispositioned people to discribe (won't go down that road) since it explains itself. Or hiself, if one so prefers. Its the vertical view that I leaped oh so wildly onto for this. You from now on have every art critisim to me duely taken right into acount, as the shading coupled with the overall composition of it...I'm never going to ween myself off of some anime due to you

I know I'm a big beleiver in bigging up peoples work but this is amazing! These kind of perspective shots are as hard as nails to do (Beleive me I've tried) but the fact that you've managed to pull off such a sense of space here, so much so you almost feel invited to reach into the picture and wiggle your hand in between his legs

Good use of references is always good. I always like to use them but then sometimes have a problem keeping to the person i'm trying to draw and end up drawing the reference instead. Oh well that's life.
