Apologies for falling off the grid once again due to entering and having recently exited out of my Second Semester! And whilst I may not be as online as I once was I'm hoping to be more active and interacting with you guys more again! And what better than to introduce a bug concept that I have been working on since July

This concept was inspired by a multitude of different bug related things from channels that talk about bugs to video games about bugs (specifically Bug Fables), I was inspired enough to begin creating a bug-related concept during my time in Uni in order to make sure that I don't go insane from limiting communication with others and focusing more on studying haha. In July, I had created the first soft-shaded artwork of these critters but eventually over time during my break I wanted to retry my hand at soft-shading, and I wanted to improve upon my practices in shading textures and making sure that it not only looked nice when looked at from far away, but also up close too! Over the next long few weeks I managed to finally finish everything, balancing it out with an upcoming art trade and collab, and here we are haha! I'm personally really proud of the improvements in shading textures and the like!

With the future of this project, I plan on making it an on and off thing, meaning that I will work on it until I move onto something else in which case I will no longer work on it until I am interested in the subject again. This way, I don't get exhausted from drawing or working on anything relevant to them and, as a result, would no longer wish to have anything to do with the series. In terms for what I vision the series could be, it is either a video game or visual series like an animation or comic haha

With that being said I will now introduce the characters in order from left to right, top to bottom:
Amelia Solarsis: A former fire ant princess who wanted to travel the world and explore as opposed to forming and dedicating the rest of her life as a colony Queen. Is extremely curious and loves to socialise (maybe too much so, as she can get lonely if she doesn't hang around people), but isn't afraid to be blunt when the situation calls for it. Is always ready to help people when needed.

Isaac Dermapaedia: An earwig who wishes to travel alongside the main cast in order to prove to the world that Earwigs aren't as useless and shunned out as they should be. A bit of a nerd and geek, loves researching and learning about the things around him, fictitious or real, and is the only one of the group who can understand the human language (arthropods, including insects, speak the universal language of Arthropian and, hence, don't need to learn any other language to communicate with one another) simply because he is interested. A bit shy and unconfident about his capabilities at first, but eventually becomes more confident in himself.

Marcus Cocotus: "Your Friendly Neighbourhood Mantis" (yep, that's his species' name), Marcus comes from a mysterious land where the creatures there have an ability to lure and sway anyone to trust them. Fully aware of his capabilities, he initially fully embraces and is proud of his species and, as a result of being so well liked and known, is extremely narcissistic and lazy to the point of irritation, leeching off of others' hard work and calling it his own. After being called out for it and spending some time away from the group, he comes back and slowly reforms, and he starts to realise how messed up his species is and wants to genuinely better himself as a person. He's becomes more sarcastic and jokester-like, but grows to be more humble, kind-hearted and tolerant of others, and actually carries his weight when battling.

Einar Dynaves: A Hercules Beetle who was trained and grew up around a well known (and feared by insects) bird community just up Apex Strait, a pathway littered with some of the most dangerous predators (such as centipedes, rogue mantises, and the like). Her status as a residence of the birds and reputation for being the slayer of many apex predators in Apex Strait earned her much fear and she is known as the Apex Killer not only in the local village, but in other villages all across MantaLand. As such, she doesn't really know how to socialise properly with other bugs (and the bird community suggested she travel alongside the group in order to properly learn to socialise with her own kind). Initially distant and a loner, she eventually learns to appreciate the company of her new friends. She is usually quiet and blunt with her words, doesn't joke too much, and extremely observant. She may appear aloof to others but is fully aware of her surroundings and what is happening. She also seems to take a liking to looking after kids when situations calls for it.

Julian Artace: A Silk-Poodle Moth hybrid who has spent pretty much a large majority of his life working at a multitude of jobs in order to provide for his family of elderly parents and adoptive sister Jewelie (who he loves beyond words). Extremely soft and friendly, he is incredibly social and loves giving people that he cares about hugs and platonic affection. Despite being mature, he can tend to overthink a situation which makes him incredibly nervous and on edge, and is quite insecure about his weight and physical image.

Vanesspa Maria: A hornet worker who, during a war, had machine parts forced onto her (and many of her fellow sisters) as a means of making up for a lack of resources. Her colony ended up losing and survivors were either forced to escape or cave in and be taken away by the attacking colonies. She was one of the few that escaped and wandered around in various places, hiding out in refuge until she met the gang. Similar to Amelia, she is incredibly social and was forced to surpress her feelings of lonliness and longings of companionship in order to survive, but once she had gained friends she no longer needed to do so. She loves cute things, especially pets, is extremely kind-hearted and tries her best not to look intimidating. She has strong feelings to war due to her past, and will get agitated if it is mentioned. She is also deeply upset about what she has become as a result of her past, and throughout the journey slowly comes to accept herself and move on, enjoying her new life with her new friends.

So yeah, that was quite the mouthful haha, been a loooong time since I ever got to write that much for a dA bio! Again apologies for the disappearance due to Uni! I hope you like this piece I drew haha
