You mean the principle of "Stone, Scissors, Paper" right?
Probably yes. Against some enemies it will be more effective to use a certain element. But techniques that do not have elements will still cause normal damage. (This is not a special attack, but a modified, normal Sapphire attack . But the special attack remained the same.)
