Reminds me of two things, a deleted scene from the first TRON, and an episode from the Animatrix.
A little off topic, but recently I saw some pretty awesome sci-fi pics of ships and structures, but i'm about 80% sure they were fractals of some sort.
Was wondering if you've ever tried something similiar?
I'll try and find the pics to show you.

He was on DA thankfully, took an hour or so to find his works again, because describing them, well, the first time I saw it, I had never seen anything resembling fractal work before, so my reaction was "What the fuck, is that meant to be some kind of ship, and a gate?
Why all the weird cubes and shit?" Hahaha.
You should see the other two (i think there's 3) in this series of works by him.
Sorry if me talking about him kinda, you know, I.m not playing favourites or anything, you are both very skilled in your own areas.
