Elegant
Benign
Compelling in a way
The beat of its wings echoing through the wasteland of my mind
Barren and bleak
Dying grass accompanied by a wooden fence
Follow it to your heart’s content
It will not end
Existing in vain
There is nothing to contain
As containment suggests order
Broken beyond repair
Yet The Crow remains here
Returning to that fence
It has freedom
It never capitalizes on that fact
Searching the emptiness for more
There is no more

The Blind Man
Walking this fence
His fingertips callused by trailing it all these years
He will wonder
Where is my sight
Reaching outward as if to claim it
As his ears meet a caw
“There you are.”
Always surprised
“Tell me what it’s like.”
He whispers to himself
Heaven on earth
His mind replies
“Be free now”
Wing beats soften
“I will remain with my thoughts.”
Lying in the soft grass
Hearing the crash of the sea
Heaven on earth
He tells himself
Longing for sight
So he may leave his thoughts
To arrive in another reality
Searching this Heaven for more
There is no more

Neither are content
With nothing or everything
This is how it will stay here
Broken beyond repair
