Yeah she lost her sister infront of her eyes so she plans to avenge the killer, which makes the story more gloomy and dark.
But her design is not as dark as you think.
She's a young beauty with brown hair, but I made her look darker using bluish green lights, consequently making her hair look black.
I haven't watched that anime before, but after surfing her image on google, I think she looks quite similar to this character
