Description
This is the final version of my Samuraii dropped out the last background and went in a very different direction for it.
It took me around 10 hours (I think) to finish it.
The symbol means POWER

I'd buy this as a poster for my personal Dojo haha. I like the feel of the picture as well.

If you don't already offer a poster of this illustration, would you like to? I am the new managing editor of Official Karate Magazine and we are looking for bonuses for our readers.

We are putting together the first two issues of Official Karate, which will be also tied into a martial arts internet marketing network. We have negotiated with a custom framing company to do karate certificates and the thought occurred to us to also do some fine art prints that martial arts dojos might like to buy. Right now I don't have a feeling for what a karate school, or even a karate student might pay but your work is so cool that I think we could find a market for it. How about if I ask Andrew Linick, who is the magazine publisher and the marketer behind all this to contact you. You can also email him at Hanshilinick@gmail.com.
Oh, go to www.officialkaratemag.com and www.joinmagi.wordpress.com to see our working, beta sites. This will let you know we are serious about these projects. Thanks for your consideration.

I would bring out the right arm just a little more. It's a bit hard to see. From a distance it appears as if he is one armed. Other than that I really like it.

Having the background so busy and a similar red to the samurai’s armor seems to distract the viewer from the subject of the piece; I think changing the background color or perhaps making the pattern less dense would allow the subject to stand out more.

thanks for the comment
I do not remember the thread but I do remember posting it in a couple of "critique wanted" topics
I tried to make the samurai stand out from the background with the blue-ish highlights on his armor but doesn't really do the trick, does it
By the way I tried using a darker background, a black and white, more yellow one and really nothing else fits (feels right) to me than this background with this color. The background is much a part from this painting as the samurai himself, and I put a lot of effort in it.
And thank you again for the comments here and on Samurai 3

That's soo cool! I don't know what the old background was but this new one is awsome. What's the symbol above his head mean?

That was good too,
By the way, did you already say what the symbol meant in the artist comments? :/
