Description Andalusian horse
His name is Oro Mafioso, but all call him Caramel

"Some have sired or birthed "Pearl" dilutes by a seemingly base-colored (chestnut, black or bay) dam. Some may even carry the "pearl" gene, but we have no indication of this so far."

A cream-colored horse with a white or cream-colored mane can carry the pearl gene. These horses are called cremello or perlino, depending. If a horse carries one pearl gene, and a dominant cream gene, that is what their coloration will be like. These horses also have blue or blue-green eyes. So, yes, a horse of this color is, or could be a pearl, IF they carry a pearl gene. It is possible that a horse of that color, rather than having one pearl and one cream gene, it could possess two CREAM genes, therefore diluting it's coat color from either chestnut to cremello, or bay to perlino. A black horse with a double dilution is going to be a smoky cream color. If they carry two pearl genes, then the coat color will simply be a diluted version of their base color(black, chestnut, bay), such as in this case. Those with two pearl genes will have light brown eyes. This Andalusian would carry TWO pearl genes, if he IS a pearl.

Champagnes, if they are not a classic champagne, and therefore a dark chocolate color, usually resemble duns or palominos. The Champagne gene dilutes black to brown, and brown to gold. So therefore, a black horse with the champagne gene would be a chocolate brown, and a chestnut or bay horse would turn gold, like a dun or palomino, and a bay with the dilute would be a darker color, more prone to be mistaken for a dun horse. A chestnut with the dilute would become a golden color like a palomino with either a flaxen mane.tail, or a mane/tail of the same color as their body. Champagne horses are born with blue-green eyes which darken with age. Their skin is light; pinkish, when they are born, and becomes speckled with age; generally on the face and under the tail, mainly.
These two genes are related, but are NOT the same.

This website explains BOTH colorations(and any other's you wish to know about): [link]

These websites shows the three basic Champagne colors: [link] --the basic three coat colors of a champagne horse.

JNFerrigno In reply to MissDudette [2011-12-29 04:03:21 +0000 UTC]

No, it's got to be Homosygous Pearl on either black or Bay. Thinking bay. Pearl creams looks like double creams.

MissDudette In reply to JNFerrigno [2011-12-29 04:07:47 +0000 UTC]

I see. And also, does pearl give the horse pink skin?

Well, this horse definitely is stunning. Great find. ^^

If there are two copies of the gene, yes. The skin actually has mottling on it if I recall. But in one dose it shows no effect on the horse. But if paired with one copy of cream, it dilutes both skin and hair.

interessting colour
Especially on the other picture he looks like a bit crossed in Achal Tekkiner. What is probably possible, if he's a Andalusier and not a PRE.
But the horse in the back behind the window looks interessting too x)
