This is awesome!!!!!! I don't know why you didn't make it to the Semi-finals. Mine wasn't that good, so I kinda knew that I wasn't going to get it and I agree about all the Semi-finalists were all didital. They should've had two winners one from didital and one from traditional, if they did it that way then you would've been in the top ten. You are a great artist and you do your best work. I admire you.

good! well, i really love to encourage my friends to do what they wanna do! but i'm not a teacher and i'm not qualified enough to guide you!
but i can say, start with the reference pics of real people! like your Barnabas drawing!
and i can give you a hint that really changed my drawings!
always remember that skin has color too! so never leave it white! color the skin and THEN shade it!
concentrate on the colors! it's not just black and white! there are millions of tunes! whites should be white and blacks, black! just, pay attention to the tunes!
and try to scan your drawings, not photograph them!
that's all i could tell you now! i can't really help you that much! but if you needed anything or thought i could help you with something, just let me know!

Ok, thanks. I'll try and start scanning my drawings in and that is a great tip. I would've never thought of coloring and then shading.

I'm loving all of the background detail as well as the subject himself, which is extremely well drawn. He looks like Mr. Depp; the hair is beautifully rendered. You have a good mastery of line and shading; those pencils you've listed are fabulous for this type of portraiture. The vest caught my eye: intricate and finely shadowed to give it the appearance of velvet and embroidery.
Interesting illustrative portrait which should grace the foyer of Collinwood.
