Description A study of my latest finished model. Actually had it lying around for half a year before finally releasing it for XWA around christmas.

The Vanguard is a medium-sized Frigate for escort and patrol duties. While mainly designed as an anti-fighter/bomber support vessel a small number of heavier weapon emplacements allow it to stand against smaller capital ships as well.

The Vanguard is mainly dispatched within wild and / or unsecured sectors to serve as both protection for trade convoys as well as patrol as long range patrols and peacekeeping.

Length: 701 m
Speed: 16 MGLT
Shield Rating: 1600 SBD
Hull Rating: 768 RU
Weaponry:
- 10 heavy quad turbolaser batteries
- 42 medium Laser cannons
- 4 Ion Cannons
- 4 tractor beam projectors

Hi. Β Very nice model. I'm building cardboard models and I'm wondering if I could build this ship from cardboard using some blueprints of your ship... Thanks.

Can someone do a proper profile on these ships?

Wow, I'd love to use the mesh for Empire at War as a new ship model...but I don't know how to convert this to ALO.

But it's so pretty....

I know that some of my models made it into EaW

Which ones? I noticed you made a Executor-class, the Victory-classes, and the Praetor-class.

I see. Do you know where I can find the ported meshes for Empire at War, or do you have a separate release site for that?

I only have a release site for the original versions for X-Wing Alliance: [link]

The EaW ports you should find in some of the mods on the EaW sub-site of filefront.

Aah. So far, I think only the Providence and other CIS capital ships have been ported...

Just because the hanger entrance is small doesn't mean the hanger bay itself is.
My best estimation is 2 maybe 3 squadrons of starfighters, 4 troop transports, and 2 shuttles.

I now leave the crew estimation to you.

P.S. you should get a job at Lucasarts, I,m sure Lucas himself would like someone such as yourself working on ship models and profiles etc. (only a friendly suggestion).

These ships do have a ventral hanger the last time I'd checked?

How many starfighters and support craft does these ships carry?
You forgotten to add that to the stats

Half to one squadron, depending on type of fighters, tha hangar's not overly big.

you should do a proper profile on that ship (like crew and troop complement, and an exact number of fighters and support craft, as I believe these ships carry more than you estimated).

Well that's all form me (for now)

That's enough to make a rebel fleet collectively fill their pants I'd say.

Once again, you continue to amaze me, "doing what you can with what you got" ain't ever been truer with you, using an older gaming engine to create the greatness that is beholden here...

and with the ass kissing done, some serious critique.

my only real Miff about this picture is the bridge superstructure, in that the bridge is connected to the rest of the hull by a tower that's only one-third of the width of the bridge. a concentrated bombardment on that section would cause it terrible terrible damage, just like the weak Connecting spar on the Nebulon-B Frigate. other than that great work

Gah, can't believe it took me so long to reply! I'm terribly sorry about that.

Yeah, I know those thin towers do have their flaws. As with quite some SW-related designs the focuse here, too, is more weighted on visual appeal than functionality. I'Although I think to have done worse than that in the past ... My Raptor-class frigate has a thin spar like a Neb plus a large forward-facing hangar at the bow ... very practical for head on attacks .... XD
