Description
I've been working on this one for three weeks straight going completely crazy, it's ink and watercolor 20" x 14", and way to many hours. I'm actually planning on doing a limited quantity of 20 high res numbered prints at $100 a piece, half of them are already spoken for so if anyone wants one hit me up, I'm working with the printers right now to get quality and color saturation right. If people show interest I'll try to do more limited runs of big high detail pieces every couple of months.Related content

I love how clean and pleasant these pieces are. Β They remind me of top-down isometric video game worlds. Β I'm glad that in the description you weren't like "yeah I did this in about four hours", lol. Β The limited color is really nice.Β

Wow, this is awesome! Really like these fine details and incredible shading with some really nice subtleties. This actually really reminds me of a dream I had once where my hometown was replaced with buildings and walkways of the same general color scheme and architectural style.

thanks! it's probably the single most time consuming piece i've ever done, well over 100 hours of o.c.d.

Whats your trick to keeping the stones all in line?

On the buildings? I just drop a couple of guide lines in pencil on each section with a ruler before I start inking it, On a smaller piece sometimes I'll just eyeball it, but when working this big it's easy for little mistakes to add up and I always do as much planning as I can before I put down ink.

Ha! And here i thought you had a complex equation or algorithm to make it work.

Nope, I didn't even use proper two point perspective, I really could have done a lot more planning on this one but it came out pretty well so eeeh whatever.

What color did you use for shading? A toned down blue or washed out black?

It's Indigo, basically a really dark blue, I use a ton of it. Watercolor purist say you shouldn't use Black or White cuz it muddies your colors, I don't know, personally I have a tube of each, I don't use them much but I have them if I want to. I think it's stupid to say you shouldn't use a tool that exists, but it probably is best not to over use them. I use a pretty limited palette, if you have a good middle of the road Red, Yellow, and Blue you can mix up most things, but I like to have a couple of tubes of colors I love pre mixed just for consistency when I'm using a lot of it.

Thanks, a compliment on my color usage is nice coming from you, your work is very vibrant, I really like the new one Envy tends her garden, it's reminiscent of Picasso's blue period which is my favorite of his various incarnations.

Nice use of a limited palette; the tree adds a certain free - form interest to the rigid buildings
