------------------------------------------------------------------

Yao sighed happily as he put his tea down. He drank his tea in his favorite cup, which Kiku pointed out was a coffee cup many times. It was a large mug with a bear for a handle. It was so cute, Yao loved it.

Yao put his drink down on his empty desk and sighed, looking sadly at all the scattered books and the papers that were everywhere. It looked like who did it and forgot to run in this office. But who did it, or helped, HAD run... and run far.... Yao wiped the tears from his eyes as he steeled his mind to cleaning up the mess.

Yao knelt down in front of the desk and noticed a few spots of red. He nearly felt like crying again when he realized that it was blood... Ivan's blood...

~The night before~

Yao sat in his office, finishing up some stray paperwork. It was well after 11, and he was dead tired. He rubbed his eyes again and got back to work. But before he could put pen to paper, he was stopped by the sounds of heavy footsteps.

Yao looked up to see Ivan standing there, that same creepy smile on his face, and blood dripping from his hands. Yao shot up, tipping his chair over, and ran over to his lover.

"Ivan, what happened, aru?!" Yao asked, gently taking one of Ivan's large hands in both of his. Worry coursed through his veins when Ivan didn't respond, he just looked down at his wrists. Yao pulled up the sleeve of the tan coat and gasped. Slashes criss-crossed Ivan's wrist, gushing blood at an alarming rate. Yao looked down at the other hand and could assume that Ivan had done the same thing on his other wrist. Yao brought the hand to his face, ignoring the tears streaming down his face. "Why, aru?"

"This'll be the last night, Yao..." Ivan said, gently cupping Yao's cheeks and tilting his head up to look him right in the eyes. "This is the last night you'll have to be alone...."

"What are you talking about, aru?" Yao asked, sadness welling up in his golden eyes. Ivan pulled him into a tight hug, gently running his hands through Yao's long brown hair that was out of it's normal ponytail.

"Yao... marry me?" Ivan asked, his voice smaller and softer than Yao had ever heard it before. Ivan could feel Yao's smile against his jacket.

"Yes, aru!" Yao squealed excitedly. Ivan could only guess that he could have been bouncing had it not been for the hug. "Of course... I love you..."

"I love you too," Ivan said, pulling the Chinese in for a searing kiss...

~*~

Yao shook his head, making his tears go flying about the room. He wiped his eyes and continued to scrub furiously at the white stain on his oak desk, his only reminder of what they did last night. He could see his own tears mingling with the water and soap on his desk.

"Aniki, are you home?"

Yao's head shot up. HE was the LAST person Yao wanted to see right now...

Kiku slowly stepped into the room, looking in disgust and shock at the state of the room.

"Aniki, what happened in here?" Kiku asked gently, walking over to his brother. Kiku jumped a little when he saw Yao in tears. He ran over to his brother's side and pulled him into a comforting hug, letting Yao cry on his shoulder. "Aniki, what happened?"

"He lied to me, aru..." Yao said, clinging to his brother. "He said I wouldn't be alone anymore, aru.... He said he loved me.... He's a liar, aru..."

"Ivan?" Kiku asked with a knowing voice. Yao nodded. Kiku sighed inwardly and looked around the room again. He saw the white stain on the desk and the pieces slowly fell into place. He hugged his brother tighter. "Do you need help cleaning up?"

"Yes, please, aru," Yao said, standing up straight and drying his eyes.

"Alright," Kiku said with a small smile, trying to cheer his Aniki up. But Yao just turned back to scrubbing the desk with sad eyes.

"Um, Aniki, let me do that," Kiku said, taking the brush from Yao. "Why don't you try organizing the chaos a little, eh?"

"Alright, aru," Yao said, knowing exactly what Kiku just did. He didn't want Yao to see the stain and be constantly reminded as to what the Russian did to him.

Thus, Yao started cleaning the room, getting all the papers and books into piles. By the time Yao was finished with this, Kiku had also finished getting the stain off the desk. Kiku was about to put a few books into the closet when something yellow stopped him.

"Aniki, you still have this?!" Kiku asked in shock, pulling out a small Pikachu bank. "I had this when I was a kid... You kept it?"

"Of course, aru," Yao said with a smile, walking over to his brother. "I saved everything from all of our siblings, aru."

"That's kind of creepy," Kiku said, looking at all the different little items in the closet. He saw a plastic bag of something and squinted his eyes. "Hey... Aren't those Yong-Soo's crayons? You saved those too? They're falling apart!"

"I saved everything, aru!" Yao said with a huff. "I'm not going to trow away your childhood, aru!!" Yao pulled out a small bamboo box and opened it, showing the contents to the Japanese. "See? I even saved all my siblings first pair of chopsticks, aru!"

"That's disgusting!!" Kiku snapped, looking at the worn out and broken chopsticks in the box. He gently took the box and pulled out a pair of simple, black chopsticks. "Even mine...?"

"Of course, aru," Yao said with a smile.

"Even... even after everything I put you through...?" Kiku asked, feeling some tears well up in his eyes.

"Of course, aru," Yao said, hugging his brother. "You're still my little brother, no matter what you do, aru."

"Thank you, Aniki," Kiku said, hugging his brother back.

"Alright, let's not get all mushy with each other, aru," Yao said, pulling away form the hug. "Come on, let's finish cleaning, aru."

"Alright," Kiku said, putting the chopsticks back and going back to cleaning up.

"Hey, Kiku, aru, have you seen my DS charger, aru?" Yao asked, picking up his dead DS.

"It was next to the pile of Pepsi bottles," Kiku said, tossing a pair of Hello Kitty Converse into the closet.

"And where was the pile of Pepsi bottles, aru?" Yao asked, looking through the nearly immaculate room.

"Behind your desk, next to the wall," Kiku said, wiping his hands on his pants.

"Oh! Thanks, aru!" Yao said, grabbing the DS charger. "Let me go put this in my room, aru!"

"Alright," Kiku said as Yao bounded out of the room.

Yao walked into his room with a smile. He was happy that he and Kiku weren't yelling at each other at the moment. In fact, Kiku seemed upset that Yao was upset. And that thought made Yao happy. Did that make sense? Yao's head was spinning.

Yao plugged the charger into the wall and then plugged in the DS. He put the DS onto his bed side table and stood up, then stopped dead in his tracks.

Sitting on his bed, folded nicely, was Ivan's scarf with a small box on top.

Yao nearly broke into tears again at the sight of the scarf. He slowly walked over to it, feeling like he was in some sort of trance. He stopped just in front of the scarf, and gingerly took the small note sitting next to it.

I'm sorry I had to run out so soon. My boss called me back to Russia and, well, he sort of scares me. I promise I'll be back, you can yell at me then.

I love you,
Ivan

Yao nearly cried again. He couldn't believe that he really thought that bad of Ivan that he would run out on him like that. He slowly took the small box and opened it, smiling the brightest that he had since last night.

Yao slipped the ring onto his fingers, watching how it glinted in the morning sunlight. He then looked at the scarf, debating what to do with it.

Yao took it and stuffed it into the bottom of his dresser with a sly smile. After all, Ivan would have to come back and get it eventually....

Awww~! That was really sweet. Srsly, I sat cursing in the company of my two eldest younger sisters and swore that I'd show Russia a terror greater than Belarus for what he did to Yao and then the ending... Sorry, Russia! I take the statement back!
