Merry Critmas from the Samurai Snowmen!

I don't know how to talk about this image without saying beautiful. The background clouds and landscape, bright with sunset over an unforgiving dark and jagged terrain, potentially signify the image's two subjects and their relationship. The woman is pretty and professional, her six wings making her angelic, her uniform a hint of authority and military power. The insect looks to be the size of a dragon, which is awesome. Its compound eyes glow brighter than anything else, its teeth are a reminder of deadly strength, its gray mane magnificent like a lion. The shiny green of its segmented chitin is cracked and hairy; it is a living tank, a natural weapon. The story of this world is then clear: countries eternally at war in a world where military power remains absolute. Some or all of the people may have wings, or perhaps they can sprout wings through magic or science. And these giant insects, once a terrifying monster of the wilds, now are tamed for war. In this image the woman greets her partner. Together their relationship, beauty and the beast, will define war.

I do see a few potential issues. One tooth in the insect's jaw (the one farthest left in the image) looks a little out-of-place against the sky and with those straight lines. And if you look at its forelegs, the farther one with less green chiton color could be mistaken for part of the background, which has some of the same curves and ridges. Looking at the woman, her left hand looks a little misshapen, the back too large and the fingers pointy. Her hat and hair look a little simpler than the rest of the art.

Vision: A winged lady greeting her dragon-sized insect.

Originality: I never expected to see an insect the size of a dragon and that's awesome.

Technique: The tiniest criticisms have to stand out in an image this professional.

Impact: If this were the cover of a book, I would read that book.

I am not at all certain what is going on here, but I like it.
She looks very calm, very businesslike--though it takes nothing away from her gentleness. I take from her appearance she has experience in this: the look of professional effort, the row of medals upon her chest.
Very well done.
