If this didnt have "critique" I would have glanced at this, thought "cool" and moved on.
But the more I look at it the more I have trouble wrapping my head around the smear or distortion around him. Not all of it looks like it is coming out of his body or is rooted in him the part on his right (picture left) shoulder seems out of place to me.
From a distance his expression looks like a smug grin but when I look at it closer it starts to look more like he is gritting his teeth.
My artistic ability is well represented by my user Icon so take this comment knowing that. I hope it is useful feedback.
