What kind of skull did you use as a reference? It looks like a rodent skull but it could also be a canine. Anatomical drawings were one of my favorite side assignments in art class.

Aha! Feline would have been my next guess but I stopped myself.
Just some art classes actually. Most of my work has been self-taught but some things are better learned directly from a teacher and/or curriculum. They can push you out of your comfort zone and get you to look at things in new ways.
