Description Hey, just a little exposition for my COLONY series. This really didn't take too much time to make so I'm not gonna put too much in here yet. Plus I have some other things I need to work on, but I'll add some descriptions to these solar zones soon.

Stellar Zones:
Stellar zones are essentially continents if you think of the entire Solar System as a single 'world'. These regions of space are divided according to physical characteristics, and cultures within these regions vary greatly.

Telluric Space:
Telluric Space refers to the region of space between the center of the sun and the Asteroid Belt. It consists of the four inner planets Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars, and was the most powerful region in the system for centuries.
The planet Earth was the birthplace of the human race, who quickly began establishing bases on the other Telluric planets and growing colonies They found dozens of methods of building colonies on the planet Mars, and even established floating cities on the hostile planet Venus. Quickly they began experimenting with terraforming with promising results, and within a couple centuries of scientific advancement, Venus and Mars were habitable.
The four inner planets were incredibly rich with resources and that made comfortable habitation easy to achieve, both on the ground and in space. Dozens of rotating habitats were constructed in clusters either in orbit around specific planets or just in their orbital paths. Many of these bases were constructed using random space debrit, drastically lowering the chance of any large object accidentally striking a planet or colony.
In the late 2600s, years after the People of Giant Space had declared their independence from Telluric rule, the Telluric began constructing thousands large industrial city-colonies that would orbit close to the sun, collecting large amounts of gases and energy that they would then sell to the planets of Giant Space, which were too far away for solar power to be a fully reliable resource.
Many of the cities orbiting around the sun were built using materials harvested from the Kuiper Belt. These Kuiper Belt objects were legally purchased from the People of Giant Space, and at a high price, as an investment for when they would begin selling energy back to them.

The Asteroid Belt (The Belt):

The Asteroid Belt, or usually simply known as The Belt was a massive ring of small bodies made of ice and rock that separated Telluric Space from Giant Space. The 'queen' of the asteroid belt was the Dwarf Planet Ceres, which was immediately utilized by the Telluric as a base in the 2100s.
By the 2460s Ceres had so many cities both on its surface and underground that it was being respected by the Telluric as an economic power.

Giant Space (Jotunheim):
The official name for the region of space between the Asteroid Belt and the Kuiper Belt is Giant Space. For centuries, it was owned and utilized by Telluric Space for resources. Eventually, the moons of Jupiter were made the subjects of terraforming efforts. The first efforts to terraform Giant Space took the form of making large mirrors, and putting them in orbit around the Jovian moons in order to reflect more sunlight onto their surfaces, warming them to a comfortable temperature. The moons Europa and Ganymede had their surfaces melted and were turned into large fishing industries, producing food for the wealthy Telluric. The Telluric also began stripping the smaller Jovian moons as well as much of Saturn's Rings of precious minerals, slowly crippling the economy of those living within Giant Space colonies.
This abuse went on for generations, and the People of Giant Space (PoGS, Pogs) were left with little food or wealth. They feared that if they began to stand up for themselves, then the Telluric would begin rationing their sunlight.
At around the 2550s, the Sol System had briefly become part of an interstellar war. While assisting a coalition of advanced planets from another section of the Milky Way against a common enemy, the planet Mercury was decimated, resulting in the death of over a million colonists . After the conflict had settled, the Telluric set up the Mercurian Revitalization Fund using mostly money stolen from Giant Space. While the Pogs felt sympathy for the lost Mercurians, this was the last straw, and they began demanding independence.
The Telluric didn't want to lose their colonies, and threatened to ration their resources as predicted. This led to a short-lived civil war that eventually ended in a truce wherein the Pogs were allowed to keep most of their resources and have rights to their own land while still being under the political jurisdiction of the Telluric. This truce only lasted for about 40 years after the Stellar Civil War, as the Pogs began utilizing the smaller moons of Jupiter to build continents, and began exporting their own resources to the other Gas Giants. Eventually, the territory of Jupiter became self-sufficient and officially declared independence. The Four Galilean Moons of Jupiter became a single kingdom in the 2630s, and the Telluric eventually granted independence to the other Gas Giant and Pogs colonies as well. The Telluric begrudgingly agreed to trade with the Pogs in lieu of not having indefinite access to their resources.
The King of the Four Galilean Moons was the first to refer to Giant Space as Jotunheim in 2635, referring to a mythical land of giants in Norse Mythology. The people of the Galilean Kingdom found this charming, and generally liked the name Jotunheim more than Giant Space. People within other Pogs colonies eventually adopted this name as well when it became more commonplace. However, the name of the region in the Solar Atlas is still Giant Space.

The Oort Cloud:

Update: I just learned that Planet 9 most likely orbits around 700 AU from the sun, while the Scattered Disc extends only about 100 AU from the sun. This would realistically put Planet 9 in the Oort cloud. I'm either going to change the map or just say that humans eventually move the planet closer. idk

Previous Colony Installment: The Galilean Moons of Jupiter
Project: Colony           When I was in high school, I got obsessed with the idea of going off into space and colonizing the planets and moons beyond Earth. In particular, I loved the idea of terraforming (A process in which the surface of a planet, as well as its atmosphere is modified until it becomes similar to Earth). I began a small project called “Project: Terraform,” in which I tried to make maps of the inner planets, and the moons of the gas giants if they were terraformed. I still love this concept, and I’ve actually learned much more about the subject in the past few years.
Therefore, I am going to be reviving this project. But I’m being more ambitious this time around. I’m not just interested in terraforming anymore; I’m interested in colonizing. There are far more worlds in the Solar System to colonize than just the spheroid moons and planets: There are thousands of pla Learn more about Colony here

So Mercury is dead...? Bomber.

There's a story to it that I've had in mind for a while but... Sorta?

I take it there just gonna put dorm over like with this one fav.me/d6ufvt0 or it was like that before it got decimated.

You'll see eventually, hopefully

Viva la Pluto-
I'm sorry, I don't know where that came from!

Lol no worries pluto's still there- there are just like, DOZENS of pluto-sized worlds there and I didn't feel like drawing them all in just yet so I didn't draw any

Now I wonder how much people are still petitioning to make Pluto a   planet again.

Unpopular opinion but I totally agree with Neil Degrasse Tyson on Pluto being a dwarf planet. Weve already found a few other dwarfs that are even bigger than Pluto (and we're bound to find a bunch more when telescopes get better) and I feel like it's super cool that they get their own category.

Also what I said was “how many people in this point in time are still going viva la Pluto”

(I personally think Hades/Pluto was a might bit ABSOLUTELY LIVID about the demotion)

I mostly disagree with tyson’s comment on zombies. They don’t follow the laws of death (aka staying dead and in your grave) so WHY should they follow the laws of decomposition?

oh yeah i remember seeing something about that a while ago. Never saw his actual argument, though.

From what I recall it was mostly “decomposing stops zombies”. Apparently he forgets that living skeletons are technically zombies too.

I have my fingers crossed that it exists. Even if it doesn't, it exists within my story lol

Lucky for you NASA is pretty certain it exists, but looking for it out there is like looking for a single four leaf clover. In Central Park.
