I am probably the only person, but I prefer N64 era Peach over the new one. I liked her Design and Personality more..let me explain myself before the hate comes. N64 era Peach's design was my favorite over the because, Her strawberry-ish blonde hair was cuter with her lighter colors, I especially loved how much more untamed the top part of her hair was as it looked nicer and more realistic. Her older dress for me, was cuter with the dark pink sash, and the half pink/ dark pink skirt (Her sleeves and skirt were more full and puffy). Her skin was a tad lighter which looked pleasing. Her face was more round, softened, and smaller and her body was a bit more petite, which made her seem more cute and innocent (Helps her character). She also had a light, natural blush on her cheeks, which was cute. Now, to her personality. In the N64 era she was sweet, put together, graceful, and gave off a regal and respectful vibe. Not to say modern Peach isn't, but she gives off a less graceful, ditzy, and almost unrespected vibe to her. Older Peach also seemed to fight back and had more sass to her (She kept that in Paper Mario up untill sticker star..getting sidetracked here). An example of this is in the Super Mario Adventures Comics (Ran in Nintendo Power) as in one part, she sneaks into Bowser's and Bombs the place (Dressed as Luigi because Luigi has her dress) to save Luigi after he pretended to be her. She did have some voice problems in the N64 era, but that can be due to the fact Peach never really had a voice, and they had to trial and error with it. (Mario 64) I liked her more mature and deeper voice as it made her seem more graceful. (Mario Party 1-2 and Mario Kart 64) She had a weird voice in this time span and she sounded like a boy trying to do it (Not to offend you guys). (Mario Party 3-4) She had a PERFECT blend of her old mature voice, and her new high voice, and I love this voice out them all. (Modern Mario) She has a really weird high-pitched voice that sounds off at times, but I still like it. Modern Peach is still okay, but I prefer Older Peach any day. I really hope they get Peach back to her roots or at least bring back her old dress, But I guess with all other character she must evolve to be fit and morph to be new and refreshing. Anyways..besides my rant, I really like this model and I like that People still know Peach in the older days. As it is, There was a Toadstool (In America) before a Peach. Again, trying not to say modern Peach is bad and all those who like her are trash. This is just my opinion and respect those who disagree. Great Model and Good work. I love your work and hope to see more.

"+NUS"...
Reminds me of the Nintendo 64's original name, the Nintendo Ultra 64...

Nice! Believe it or not, that is what we are referencing there

I always thought Princess Peach looked really odd in the Mario Kart 64 renders… She looked like a young child in the face but she had adult legs and wore high heels. She also looked very compressed in order to fit into her kart, since she was the only character back then with long legs.
I see you didn't use that render here though, and I wouldn't mind if you did--I just remember looking at the MK64 instruction book way back in the day and wondering why Peach looked so funny

Princess Peach had about four different 3D CG designs/re-designs during the N64 era. The model we used here was the fourth and last of the designs, and came in the later games such as Mario Party 3. The first use of this design was in Mario Golf 64. The model and design used for the Mario Kart 64 CGI was either the second or third model, and differs in may ways in appearance from the one shown above. Thus, it would have been inappropriate to use that model as a creation reference to create the Mario Golf/Mario Party 3 model. If we ever get around to creating the Mario Kart 64 Princess Peach design, we shall let you know!

Peach DID have several different designs back then! I figured other people had noticed.
I also noticed that Peach's Mario Party 1 design was nothing like the one from 2 and 3--her dress looked more static and had a gaudier color scheme. Peach had costumes in MP2 but otherwise looked similar to MP3. Since Mario and Luigi looked the same throughout, it's my guess they had trouble making Peach transition to 3D. I don't blame them though, as Mario and Luigi are very simple whereas Peach is highly detailed in order to look beautiful… Her hair in particular looks very challenging to render in 3D. It also must be challenging to get her facial-bone structure down.

It is true! Princess Peach has probably undergone more 3D redesigns than any other Nintendo character! She does have a bit of a complicated look to her, especially in the face and hair regions.
Oddly enough, while the official/main model for Mario during the N64 era (The one used in Super Mario 64 as well as almost every other Mario N64 game) existed throughout the whole generation, there are actually different Mario models used in a few select games and circumstances. In Mario Party 1, Hudson Soft used a different ACM model for Mario. A different model was also used in select artworks in Mario Kart 64; the pre-rendered raster images that are used on the actual controllable in-game character are also made from a different model than the Super Mario 64 model. I believe Luigi uses a different model in a few of the Mario Party 1 artworks as well. If you have ever seen the beta artworks for Mario Kart 64, you will notice that every single character uses a completely different CG design. Interestingly, there are actually two different 3D CG designs for Princess Daisy that are known of during the N64 era as well. While no large-scale or obvious artwork of the other model exists, you can observe that the Princess Daisy character icons used in Mario Party 3 show a model design that differs from the model used popularly in the latter and official Mario Party 3/Mario Tennis 64 artworks.

I'm not sure if this is true, but looking at the renders from 2014 and beyond, and think all of the Mario characters have received a slight update too. Peach and Mario in particular have much softer shading and more detailed eyes, and all of the models look a lot more dynamic and less stiff than some from Mario Party 7 and such. I consider it to be an improvement!
I've also noticed that Yoshi, ever since Mario Galaxy 2, has noticeably blue eyes.

Yes. Almost all of the characters have received remodels or edits for Wii U. Peach's model for Wii, which is the one they now use for Wii U only with a few improvements, is a different design than the one used for GameCube. This goes for Mario as well, except I think his Wii U model might be a remodel that is different from Wii.
If you've ever heard about or seen how some people rip models out of Mario games, you'll notice the files they have extracted for characters usually lead in with "NUS" "DOL" "RVL" or "WUP". These are code names for each Nintendo system of course, and they also tell us which console era the in-game character's model/design was decimated/modified from.
For instance, if someone was to extract model data from a Wii game and received a file titled "DOL-KINOPIO" (Kinopio is the Japanese name for Toad), this would mean that the model/design used in the game for that character is from the Dolphin (GameCube) era, not a design or model from the actual Revolution (RVL/Wii) era.

There's an extra blue caption there that says "Text". Was that meant to be there? Or is it just a mistake?

Fantastic! Here's hoping you can definitely match the "details" regarding Peach (and Daisy's) sports outfits (N64 versions of course). Thanks for sharing this with us.

Thank you. It is really close now. Any tweaks that need to be made are definitely minor at this point.
