Description LOL Shakespear fanart. Although I myself have not read the Tempest, this was my birthday present for *Charlotte-Poison-Ivy as Ariel is her favourite character!
But this got cropped a little in the scanner, so there was actually more to it than that :I

SO. This is important. All the smudgy browns and stuff is actually gold paint , because I like me some gold paint. It makes everything better. So in real life, it glistens and shimmers in the sun : D
Barcode on his arm because of reasons. Yes. Also the island at the bottom left 'wait, that's an island?' I drew it in, then realised I don't know how to paint them. Also it was almost midnight so I kind of had a 'Stuff this' moment, which is bad since this is a present... :U

But she liked it, and that's what counts!

Ariel is Shakespeare's lol
Done with watercolours, gold acrylics and masking fluid.

Woah, this looks great! Yes, even the island on the bottom.

I'm starting to see a pattern with you and things like barcodes and tattoos. You like that stuff a bit, don't ya~?

Hehe, thanks! c:
Despite my dad's constant teasing about it, I do like drawing barcodes for some reason? It's odd. I also like using the skin as an extra sort of canvas for a character in a way

I'd love to be able to do that, but whenever i draw things like tattoos they always just look wrong. I don't know why tho.

I would say what helps is if you imagine the contours of the form which it's on, and draw the patterns and colours in accordance? Although that wasn't possible here since I completely coloured the tattoos with pen ._.

But half the time i don't know what i'm going with! That's the problem, also i have no clue what colors they should be in. And my lines aren't that straight, so if i'm doing tats the lines would be terrible to begin with. Especially if they have any type of curves in them. =/

I find that if you draw the lines fairly quickly, they become smoother. Mine would be pretty shaky otherwise, since my hands tend to shake a fair amount, so if i spend any amount of time on the lines they look terrible :I
But just drawing curves of all sizes over and over at a reasonable speed helps to teach your hand the muscle actions, so that's what I would recommend I guess? c:

I guess that could work, but when i draw i have to draw slow, otherwise the lines won't go where i want them to.

And curves are just hard to draw. Same with curly hair and the like.
